In the previous chapter, CP0 got a new mission from Gorosei. He was ordered to kill Luffy for "a reason" which Luffy considered to be very dangerous. It's still not clear what the reason is, but it seems to have something to do with Luffy's Gomu Gomu devil fruit. So, did CP0 manage to kill Luffy? Here are some interesting points that can be discussed from One Piece 1042!

X-Drake Dead?

One Piece 1041 shows that X-Drake is still able to rise after being defeated by CP0. This time, he is face-to-face with CP0 again for the sake of "justice" that he believes in and also to repay the debt of gratitude to Luffy. X-Drake managed to stab CP0 in the back, but this was not enough to stop CP0.

X-Drake was again defeated by CP0. Not only that, CP0 managed to launch a shigan into X-Drake's neck and punch a hole in his throat! This heavy attack and very severe wound endangered X-Drake's life. Did he survive this fatal attack? We can only wait for the answer in the next chapter.

Kaido's Another Drunk Phase

Luffy bombards Kaido with attacks that use Snakeman form. Kaido himself looks overwhelmed by Luffy's attack. But he was still able to dodge Luffy's attacks with his predictable Kenbunshoku Haki. Interestingly, One Piece 1042 also shows 3 other phases of Kaido's drunkenness.

Kaido's other 3 drunk phases include: Flirty Drunk Phase, Thieving Drunk Phase and Homicidal Drunk Phase. Like the phases that appeared in the previous chapters, each of these phases causes drastic changes to Kaido's attack patterns and character—making him very unpredictable. This is evident from Luffy who can't avoid Kaido's barrage of attacks.

Kaido’s Massive Attack!

In battle, Kaido repeatedly changes to zoan and hybrid forms. He launches a massive attack by biting and swallowing Luffy, then takes him into the air and launches a huge blast from above the air. This attack hits Luffy and injures him. Not only that, this attack also pierced Onigashima and made Luffy almost fall into the sea.

Luffy Changes into Boundman

Luffy, who almost fell into the sea, turned into a Boundman. This form is used by Luffy so that he can "fly" (or rather: jump) in the air and avoid falling into the sea. He also returned to the top of Onigashima to fight Kaido. An exhausted Luffy realized that the duration of his Gear 4 was running out. He also desperately beat Kaido.

But Kaido is a very tough figure. He still held on and even counterattacked. Luffy is getting ready to launch his final attack or else he will lose! However, unfortunately during the decisive attack CP0 appeared and interfered with Luffy's movements.

Luffy's Last Attack Interrupted by CP0

Luffy's last attack was interrupted by CP0. This disrupted his movements and he was unable to dodge Kaido's massive attack. This interference from CP0 is very similar to how Luffy was bullied against Katakuri. Can Luffy get back up like he did when he fought Katakuri?

Besides being similar to Luffy's fight against Katakuri in the past, this interference from CP0 also reminds Kaido how his fight with Oden was disrupted. Kaido's face looked sad remembering this. Apparently, he didn't like it when his enjoyment of fighting was interrupted—especially a second time. Does this mean Kaido will be angry and beat CP0 to death? Well, let's just wait for the continuation of One Piece 1043 next week!
