Trypophobia comes from greek words, trypta (holes) and phobos (fear). The term Trypophobia first appear in a web forum in 2005. Trypophobia is an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps.
Those with trypophobia will feel uncomfortable when seeing clusters of small holes or bumps. If you are a gamer with trypophobia, it’s best if you avoid games that have trypophobia elements. What games are those? Read the list below to find out.
1. Rom, the Vacuous Spider - Bloodborne
Famous for its high difficulty level, the Souls series developed by FormSoftware gains tons of fans thanks to its challenging gameplay. FromSoftware finally released Bloodborne, a story about a Hunter that looks for substance named Paleblood in Yharnam, a city plagued with a mysterious plague that changes those who are infected into ferocious beasts.
Out of all monsters, the player will face, there’s one monster that those with trypophobia fears the mos, Rom, the Vacuous Spider. This monster looks like a disgusting spider. Its head is decorated with black eyes and sharp teeth. Players are required to beat the horrible looking monster.
2. Weavess - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the best action RPG game released by CD Projekt RED. The sequel to Geralt’s adventure from the second game. With an eye-pleasing graphics, the third Witcher game will make those with trypophobia uncomfortable. Geralt will face an opponent named Weavess, that has a horrible appearance. She has a terrifying face, and on her right eye, you see tiny red bumps.

3. Coral Crystal - Monster Hunter World
Monster Hunter: World is currently the best game from Capcom. Capcom makes the game with incredible graphics. So, it’s not unusual for people to claim that Monster Hunter: World is the best action RPG game. But the game may not be suitable for those with trypophobia. On the Coral Cyrstal map, players will see a field with giant holes and small bumps.
4. Undertow Vigor - Bioshock Infinite
BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter (FPS) game by 2K Games released last March 26, 2013. With a horror element, Bioshock Infinite may make gamers with trypophobia uncomfortable. When the player uses Undertow Vigor, the potion will cause blisters on the character’s hand and resulted in holes that look disgusting. Fortunately, the disgusting look only appears for a bit and followed by an ability to pull and throw an enemy.
5. Nightmare - Dragon Age: Inquisition
Dragon Age is one of the RPG games that causes the RPG evolution, from conventional RPG to modern RPG, that leans toward action RPG. in Dragon Age: Inquisition, players will see all aspects of an RPG game from grinding, upgrade, and strategies. With great graphics quality, players will also face horrible looking monsters. One of the worst looking monsters is Nightmare, a spider-like demon. This monster’s disgusting design will definitely make players with trypophobia uncomfortable.
