It’s undeniable that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is one of the biggest brands in entertainment today. With the popularity of MCU movies, actors and actresses are competing to get roles in an MCU movie. With a lot of actors and actresses taking parts in the MCU, it’s possible that we forget some of the big names who’ve been involved in the projects with the insignificant roles.

Here are the big names who have been involved in the MCU as side characters. 

Olivia Munn

Olivia Munn has been synonymous with the roles of strong female characters who fearlessly fight against criminals. It’s shown in Munn’s films resume, such as; The Predator (2018) and the tv series, Six (2018). The woman with Asian descent also had a role in a superhero film (Non-MCU), X-Men: Apocalypse as Psylocke.

With her experience, you might imagine Olivia Munn taking a role in the MCU as a superhero or other significant roles. Well, unfortunately, those assumptions are wrong. Appearing in Iron Man 2 (2010), Munn “only” appeared for a few seconds on the screen as a TV reporter at the opening of Stark Expo.

Zachary Levi

Today, we know Zachary Levi as the superhero Shazam from DC Extended Universe. But before taking a role as the alter ego of Billy Batson in Shazam!, Levi first featured in the MCU with his role in Thor: The Dark World (2013).

In the second Thor movie, Levi plays as Fandral, one of the Asgard knights who helped Thor in battle. Levi also appeared in Thor: Ragnarok (2017), where his character got killed by the main villain Hela, played by Cate Blanchett.

Natalie Dormer

Fans of the series Game of Thrones surely know this name so well. Plays as Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones, Natalie Dormer has successfully captured the hearts of many men (and also women) with her stunning appearance in the series. Although her name is now widely known, a lot of people doesn’t know that the British woman is one of the first actresses to play a role in the MCU.

Dormer made her appearance in the MCU through her role in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) as Private Lorraine. Only appears for a few minutes in the film, Dormer’s character tries to seduce Steve Rogers and successfully made Peggy Carter jealous.

Donald Glover

Towards the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Donald Glover was at his peak. Aside from making a remark with his role in the TV series Community, the man who also a musician is known for the voice actor of Miles Morales, the successor for Peter Parker in the series, Ultimate Spider-man.

Therefore, when he was announced as one of the casts of Spider-Man: Homecoming, a lot of people were hopeful about the significance of Glover’s role in this movie. Alas, the fans have to be left heartbroken since, in this movie, Glover only appeared for two minutes playing a lowly villain being interrogated by Spider-Man.

Sylvester Stallone

Many people think Sylvester Stallone is too big of a household name to take a minor role. But nothing’s impossible, because the Rambo actor was happy enough to play a small part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (2017). In this movie, Stallone plays as Stakar Ogord, a leader of Ravager Clan. Despite having a significant role in the comics, in this movie, Stallone only had three minutes of screen time. Let’s hope Stallone returns in the next Guardians of the Galaxy.

Bonus: Brad Pitt

No one saw it coming when Brad Pitt made an appearance in Deadpool 2 (2018). Playing the role of an invisible superhero, The Vanisher, Pitt’s face is hardly shown throughout the entire film. Pitt’s face finally shown for a fraction of a second toward his death from being stuck in an electric cable. At the time this movie was released, Deadpool wasn’t in the MCU, but since Disney has acquired Fox, it wouldn’t hurt to include this silly cameo appearance.
