Animes are always fun to be watched, moreover if the anime has thrilling themes that suit your taste like culinary-themed animes, for example. Either just to want to know about Japanese foods, trying to make one, or distracting yourself from the taste of familiar instant noodles taste. Sometimes, culinary animes can offer no less interesting story that can be compared to action animes like Naruto or One Piece.
Popular Japanese website Goo.ne.jp asked its audience "Culinary animes that shouldn’t be watched with an empty stomach?” and managed to gain 3.429 votes from anime fans from all over Japan. So, what culinary animes that included in the top 10 list? Check this out.
10. Wakakozake
The first title is telling about the daily life of Murasaki Wakako, a 26 years old employee, who loves to taste various eateries after work to relieve stress. This touching anime managed to gain 149 votes.
9. Mister Ajikko
It turns out to be a classic manga that published in 1986 and later adapted into anime a year later. Received 155 votes, this culinary anime tells about Ajiyoshi Youichi’s story, a little boy who is very talented in cooking and works as a head chef in his family-owned restaurant.
8. Chuuka Ichiban
Literally 'The Best Chinese Food' or known widely in some countries as Cooking Master Boy, surely you already familiar with this title. Culinary anime fans are still loving this series and received 187 votes.
7. Yuru Camp
This one is unexpected, even from us, why this mountain climbing anime can be included in this list? It’s simple because the girls that included in Outdoor Activities also often shown cooking delicious foods atop of the mountain! The taste of outdoor foods placed Yuru Camp on the seventh position with 188 votes.

This title gained 229 votes tells about the daily lives of Youshoku no Nekoya staff, an ordinary restaurant located in Tokyo, Japan, which every Saturday, visited by fantasy creatures and serving ‘unusual’ dishes.

If we’re talking about ramen, surely the first title that comes to mind probably Naruto, right? But not for culinary anime fans in Japan, they tend to choose Koizumi-san. This anime tells about the everyday life of Koizumi, a highschool girl who deeply in love with ramen often makes them hungry and comes with 286 votes.
3. Oishinbo
Oishinobo is a combination of oishii (tasty) and kuishinbo (food lovers), this culinary anime tells about the adventure of culinary journalist Shirou Yamaoka and partner, Yuuko Kurita. Once adapted into a live-action film in 1996, this popular series managed to sit in third place with 312 votes.
2. Cooking Papa
If in the video game world, we have Cooking Mama, then anime world has Cooking Papa! Tells about Kazumi Araiwa, a father and a salaryman who can cook well. The manga also considered one of the longest mange series by the number of volumes. Also, if you are interested to cook Papa’s recipe, then you can follow the recipe at the end of each chapter. It’s not surprising that Cooking Papa successfully gained 333 votes and still dear to culinary anime fans.
1. Shokugeki no Souma
The first spot in this list surely belongs to Shokugeki no Souma! With 523 votes, way far from the rest, this title can be said as the best anime, at least until 2018. Even the mangaka invited for a collaboration with Eiichiro Oda to work on a One Piece spin-off: Shokugeki no Sanji!
