For those who love giant robots or mechas, surely familiar with this anime and manga from Japan. This series always tells the story of a young man who wants to complete a mission by piloting a giant robot. Gundam is a series favored by many fans from old to young until today. The version of Gundam is varied, so maybe a little bit confusing for newcomers.

For those who are interested to follow this series, here is the list of Gundam series in chronological order or according to the in-universe timeline.

1. Mobile Suit Gundam (Universal Century)

The story began when a people of outer space colony named Amuro Ray involved in a fight which (at first) he did not know the point of it. His father, Tem Ray, is a scientist who developed the secret Mobile Suit project (a term for mecha in this series) called Gundam.

Accidentally read the manual, turned out this is very useful for Amuro to control Gundam; which previously wanted to be relocated but attacked by Zaku robots of Zeon Kingdom. From there, Amuro’s journey started and he joined the Earth Federation Army as well as meeting other Gundam pilots which continued to Zeta Gundam, Gundam ZZm Victory Gundam, or Gundam Unicorn. Amuro is one of many characters who have the most appearances compared to other protagonists in the Gundam series.

2. Mobile Fighter G Gundam (Future Century)

This series tells about a game when all outer space colonies already united in a federation. They create a meeting attended by each representative of each colony. Every colony is tasked to give one fighter and their Mobile Suit to earth as the location of the tournament until one last man standing.

For the colony whom the representative manages to come out as the victor has a privilege to order other colonies until the next fight started. This story tells about Domon Kashu who represents Neo Japan on the 13th tournament.

3. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (After Colony)

This series tells about few young boys who were sent by a professor from various colonies including Earth to undergo a secret mission; they are Heero Yuy, Trowa Barton, Chang Wufei, Quatre Raberba Winner, and Duo Maxwell. These five boys have their mobile suit and each of them has its own distinct features. Later they will cooperate even though at first they were fighting each other.

They are tasked to stop Meteo Operation, a plan to smash outer space colony into the Earth. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing or widely known as 'Gundam Wing' is one of the successful series of this franchise.

4. Kidou Shinseiki Gundam X (After War Gundam)

This Gundam story sets in the post-apocalyptic world after the nuclear war. 15 years after the war ended and Earth once stormed by nuclear winter for 7 years straight. The story focusing on Garrod Ran, a 15 years old boy who found an old mobile suit from Earth Federation called Gundam X which later he uses it to help the New Earth federation and restoring the Earth’s forgotten glory.

5. Turn A Gundam (Correct Century)

This story takes place 2.000 years later after Earth got destroyed badly. Most of the humankind lives in the Moon and outer space colonies. For years, the Moon people or also known as Moon race keep descending and checking on Earth. The story revolves around a boy names Rolan Cehack.

When carrying out his duties on checking the blue planet, Rolan decided to live there for more than a year on Earth with Heim family, one of the surviving Earth people. During a ceremony by Earth people, they use a White Doll which turns out to be a Gundam. Looking at the Moon people who wanted to take the Gundam by force, Rolan turns out defending the Earth people using the Gundam he found.
