BMW 88 may be an unfamiliar name for most PUBG Mobile fans in Indonesia. However, the team has consistently proved its worth by securing the runner-up title in the PMPL ID Season 5 Qualifiers, as well as paving its way to the PMPL ID Season 5.

With a squad consisting of 4 players — CoppinLee (IGL, Support), Flux (Sniper, Support), Barrier (Scout, Rusher), and Keymine (Fragger) — BMW 88 displayed a series of outstanding performances by getting 3 WWCDs in the PMPL ID Season 5 Qualifiers.

Despite being a newcomer, BMW 88 is bolstered with several seasoned players, one of which is CoppinLee, who played for both Victim Sovers and ONIC Esports. The 24-year-old player mentioned that the team was originally formed for the last year’s Piala Presiden.

“So, the team was originally founded by Barrier, who had just left Siren Esports at the time, who then invited Flux to form a team. Flux then asked his acquaintance, KeyMine, and Miray being the other player. The four of them formed a team named Everlast X,” said CoppinLee.

“They initially made a team to take part in the Piala Presiden, and we qualified from the Java region. After that, we had an offer from BMW 88 to represent them on the national scene. One month after joining, we received news of the PMPL ID Season 5 Closed Qualifiers. They went out and conducted a trial for several ex-PMPL players, and that was when I joined,” he added.

However, some fans were curious about CoppinLee’s reason for joining a new team instead of a more established team that’s already in the PMPL ID Season 5.

He stated that he believes his new team has great potential to realize their mission of representing the country at the PMGC 2022.

“When I tried out for the BMW 88 for the Closed Qualifiers (of the PMPL ID Season 5), I felt that they had more potential and a gameplay that’s more suitable for me. I personally decided to join a new team instead of a PMPL team as I want to qualify for the PMPL with my own efforts, from (scratch) with this team.

BMW 88 players are still young with a lot of space for growth, so I believe that this is their era. As for our mission, we want to qualify for the PMGC 2022 and represent the country on the international stage,” said CoppinLee.

The team will surely have to face a big challenge to realize their lofty ambition. Facing the big teams in the upcoming PMPL ID League Season 5, the IGL said that they’re currently making some technical and mental preparations.

“When it comes to preparation, we don’t have a particular strategy, except for the usual training -  aiming, and individual skills practices. In terms of mental, ready or not, we still have to be ready to face the other teams in the league. Over time, I believe that our mental (preparedness) will be molded on its own just like other teams that are already in the league,” he said.

CoppinLee also expressed his gratitude to all fans who have given their support for BMW 88 to become the runner-up in the PMPL ID Season 5 Qualifiers. He asked for fans to give their support in their upcoming league run.
