Besides becoming the new boss in the new domain, his gameplay and combat style are quite unique. Childe uses a bow as his main weapon and attacks from the distance. When he uses his Elemental Skill, the arrow transforms into two water element dagger and he can dish melee attacks.

Skill 

As mentioned before, Childe masters two fighting modes: Range Stance mode and Melee Stance mode. Each mode has its skill, but the effect is similar.

Ranged Stance Mode

In this mode, Childe attacks using his bow.

• Normal Attack: Shoots up to 6 arrows to the enemy;
• Charged Attack: deals water element arrow to the opponent. Inflicting Broken Flow Debuff;
• Broken Flow: When an opponent with Broken Flow is hit by Childe, AOE hydro damage will be dealt;
• Elemental Burst: Childe fires AOE hydro arrow to the target. Every opponent hit by this arrow is inflicted by Broken Flow and Childe regains energy.

Melee Stance Mode

Childe changes from Ranged Stance to melee Stance after activating Elemental Skill. The young launches melee attack with two hydro daggers.

• Normal Attack: 6 combo of slashes that deals Hydro damage;
• Charged Attack: instantly performs 2 slashes that deals Hydro damage;
• Broken Flow: Slash: when hitting an enemy with Broken Flow during his Melee stance, Childe deals additional AOE Hydro to the opponents;
• Elemental Burst: performs a wide slash dealing massive Hydro damage. Triggers Broken Flow: Burst, an additional AOE Hydro damage.

Talent

• Ascension 1 passive skill: Broken flow duration increased by 8 seconds;
• Ascension 4 passive skill: Critical hits from Normal and Charged Attack in Melee Stance inflicts Broken Flow debuff.
• Utility Skill: All party members’ Normal Attack Talent raised by 1.

Analysis

Based on his skill, Childe is a DPS and can be built as Physical DPS or Elemental DPS.

Childe Physical DPS focuses on the Normal Attack and uses the Ranged Stance more often. It’s because Childe’s Normal Attack deals Hydro damage in Melee Stance, so using this mode with Physical DPS build is a waste. His Utility Skill help increases physical attack at your party when you are playing co-op. While Broken Flow can deal additional damage.

Childe is at his best when you use the Elemental DPS build. Your combo will focus on exploiting Broken Flow. you have to keep switching between stances, but make sure to stay in the Melee Stance most of the time, especially after getting ascension 4. Make sure to get Artifacts that increases Elemental damage and Critical Rate.
