To increase anticipation, several recent reports have provided a more detailed description of what specifications will be embedded in this Sony PlayStation 5 Pro.

According to a video from RedGamingTech, a fairly trusted source in the gaming world, PS5 Pro will reportedly continue to use an APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) based on AMD Ryzen Zen 2. The report highlights that this CPU has 8 cores and 16 threads - numbers identical to standard PS5 models. Despite opting to stick with Zen 2, instead of switching to AMD Ryzen Zen 4, the report mentions that the CPU clock speed will be bumped up to 4 GHz. With this speed, it is hoped that the console will be able to achieve the target frame rate per second (FPS) desired by gamers. This also shows that the main focus of the PS5 Pro this time will most likely be on the graphics or GPU side.

Another source, Gizmochina (28/8), added that one of the most important aspects to be upgraded is the ROP (Render Output Unit). With 30 active workgroup processors—the equivalent of 60 compute units—the increase will provide a significant boost to graphics performance. For context, the base PS5 model only has 64 ROP, while the PS5 Pro is expected to come in variants with 64, 96, and even 128 ROP. Overall, this will level up the graphics game on the PS5 Pro.

Equally important, the leak also reveals that the memory that will be used is GDDR5 with a capacity of 16 GB. Although quite large, this is still based on leaked information, and Sony certainly reserves the right to make final adjustments to these specifications.
