Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Launches November 14 with the Biggest Features in the Series
By the seventh entry, most players don’t expect surprises anymore. But Treyarch is breaking expectations with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set to release on November 14, 2025 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game retains the three iconic pillars of the Black Ops franchise: a story-driven campaign, competitive multiplayer, and the classic Zombies mode, now bigger and bolder than ever.
A Hallucinatory Campaign Set in 2035
The campaign of Black Ops 7 transports players to the year 2035, where fear, illusion, and memory manipulation dominate the battlefield. Players step into the role of Spectre 1 operator, alongside familiar characters like David Mason and Mike Harper, on a global mission to hunt down the legendary villain Raul Menendez.
In a twist, Menendez sometimes appears as a giant hallucination, reflecting Mason’s fractured psyche. Treyarch emphasizes that the narrative blurs the line between reality, memory, and hallucination, constantly challenging players to question what’s real and what’s just in the character’s mind.
Endgame: A New Replayable System
Once the main campaign concludes, players unlock Endgame, a new replayable progression system that connects directly to both multiplayer and Zombies. This mode offers:
-
New challenges for each mission
-
Special abilities like Mega Jump, grappling hook, combat drones, and portable shields
-
Daily and weekly quests inspired by live-service games like Destiny
-
A global progression system designed for replayability
With Endgame, Call of Duty’s campaign evolves into a hybrid narrative and live-service experience, designed for long-term engagement.
Multiplayer with 16 Maps and Skirmish Mode
Black Ops 7 multiplayer arrives with:
-
16 core 6v6 maps (13 brand new, 3 classics from Black Ops 2)
-
2 large-scale 20v20 maps
-
A new Skirmish mode (20v20) featuring vehicles, grappling hooks, wingsuits, and dynamic objective gameplay
The Omnimovement system has also been enhanced, adding wall jumps, combat rolls, and smoother mobility, though Tactical Sprint has been removed for balance.
Zombies Return on the Largest Scale Ever
The beloved Zombies mode returns in its classic round-based format, but on a scale larger than any Black Ops game before. Key features include:
-
Driveable vehicles within Zombies maps
-
Survival maps returning from Black Ops 2
-
Story continuation from Black Ops 6
-
Alternate versions of fan-favorite characters like Richtofen and Dempsey
Open Beta and Global Release
For those eager to try the game early, an open beta begins on October 28, 2025, with early access available to pre-order players and select Game Pass subscribers.
With its hallucinatory campaign, replayable Endgame system, innovative multiplayer, and the largest Zombies mode ever, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be the boldest and most ambitious entry in the franchise’s history.
