February 2023 begins with the return of Team Rocket in Pokemon GO. Team Rocket appears more often at Pokestops and with Team Rocket Balloons. Several new Shadow Pokemon have arrived with Rocket Grunts such as Shadow Alolan Vulpix, Shadow Spoink, Shadow Blitzle, and Shadow Joltik.

Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo also brought a new line-up of Pokemon. Cliff has Magnemite, Venusaur/Omastar/Pinsir, and Sharpeedo/Camerupt/Tyranitar troops. While Sierra brings Beldum Sharpeedo/Lapras/Flygon, and Houndoom/Shiftry/Alakazam.

Arlo has Nidoran (Male), Crobat/Steelix/Cradily, and Scizor/Charizard/Armaldo. After defeating Team GO Rocket Leaders, if you're lucky, you can get Shiny Shadow Magnemite (Cliff), Shiny Shadow Beldum (Sierra), or Shiny Shadow Nidoran Male (Arlo).

The Boss of Team Rocket, Giovanni, also arrives with a different troop when you fight him. You can encounter Giovanni if you have the Super Rocket Radar from the Team Rocket Special Research Task. Giovanni brings Persian, Garchomp/Cloyster/Nidoking, and Registeel. To defeat Giovanni, use a Pokemon with the right attack types.

For example, for Persian, you can counter it with a Pokemon like Lucario with Fighting-type attacks for the Super Effective bonus. If you don't have one, use more common Pokemon like Machamp with the Counter & Cross Chop moveset.

For Garchomp, use Ice-type attacks for the 256% boost. You can use Pokemon like Alolan Ninetails with Powder Snow and Weather Ball Ice. For Cloyster, you can use Fighting, Electric, Rock, or Grass-type attacks, but it's better to avoid Grass-type Pokemon as Cloyster has an Ice-type attack.

Good examples of Pokemon that you can use are Terrakion with Double Kick and Sacred Sword or Melmetal with Thundershock and Rock Slide. For Nidoking, use Ground, Water, Psychic, or Ice-type attacks. For example, you can use Swampert's Mud Shot and Hydro Canon or Mewtwo's Psycho Cut and Psystrike.

Last but not least, for Registeel, you can use Fighting, Ground, or Fire-type attacks. Some of the best Pokemon are Lucario's Counter and Power Up Punch. An alternative for it is Garchomp with its Mud Shot and Earth Power or Charizard with its Fire Spin and Blast Burn.
