Cayo Perico Heist has a hidden feature that players can take advantage of. It’s no secret that the heist has five primary targets, each of which has a different price.

The Sinsimito Tequila being the lowest-priced primary target at $990,000. Whereas the Black Panther Statue being the highest-priced target at $2,090,000. Unfortunately, the Black Panther Statue is only available during certain events. So, for normal days, the best-paying primary target is the Pink Diamond with a value of $1,430,000.

Most GTA Online players often have Sinsimito Tequila as the primary target in a row. Surely this can be infuriating as it greatly reduces the potential payout from the Cayo Perico Heist.

But luckily, the GTA Online community always finds a way to turn difficult situations into an advantage. As of late, players have found a method to change the primary target in Cayo Perico Heist. So, on this occasion, I would like to give you the steps required to get the primary target you want.

First, you have to turn off the graphics settings Pause Game on Focus Loss, and set the spawn location on the Kosatka. Since this method requires you to switch between sessions several times, spawning on the Kosatka will greatly reduce the time.

Step 1: Run the Heist in Hard Mode & Take on the First Gather Intel Mission

To unlock the Hard Mode in Cayo Perico Heist, first, you’ll have to complete a heist. After that, wait for Pavel to call and tell you that you can run another heist on El Rubio’s island. Now, the interval for the Hard Mode being active is about 45 minutes after Pavel’s phone call. Therefore, you need to immediately start the Cayo Perico Heist and take on the first Gather Intel mission (scoping).

During the scoping mission, you don’t have to stop by the secondary targets locations. Just go straight to the Communication Tower and find the primary target located in El Rubio’s compound. After knowing the primary target, wait for Pavel to stop talking. The reason is, you’ll have to wait for the coding in GTA Online to change from prior-scoping to post-scoping.

After that, return to the Story Mode without leaving Cayo Perico, and then return to GTA Online. To cut down the loading time, I suggest entering a private session (Invite Only/Closed Crew Session).

Step 2: Gather Intel Mission #2

Once you’re in a new session, you can start another Gather Intel mission. But, in the second phase of the Gather Intel mission, you don’t have to go all the way north to steal the Velum. All you need to do is to go to LSIA.

Once you’re close to the yellow mark on the minimap, you have to call Pavel to cancel the Cayo Perico Heist.

If you manage to go to Cayo Perico after canceling the heist, it means that you’ve followed the steps correctly. But, if you can’t go to Cayo Perico, you’ve probably done something wrong, or you’ve canceled the Cayo Perico Heist when you’re too far from the yellow mark. If this happens, you have to do all the steps from the beginning.

While in Cayo Perico, do exactly the same thing you did during the first Gather Intel mission. Find out what the primary target is, then wait for Pavel to stop talking. And then go to the Story Mode, and return to GTA Online on a private session to cut down the loading time.

Step 3: Access the Heist Screen

At this point, you should be able to change the primary target for the next heist. To do so, you have to register yourself as VIP/CEO/MC President to gain access to the heist scene. If you can’t see the screen, you’ll only see the primary target from your scoping mission.

Step 4: Change the Primary Target

If you’re not satisfied with the primary target you see from the previous step, no need to worry. You don’t have to go back to Cayo Perico to change the primary target. You just need to disconnect by unplugging the LAN cable, activating airplane mode, or disabling Network Connections.

Then wait for the GTA Online to disconnect and automatically takes you to Story Mode. After that, reconnect to the internet, and return to GTA Online without restarting the game.

Don’t forget to register as VIP/CEO/MC President to gain access to the heist screen. Repeat this step to get the primary target that you want. Keep in mind that you only have a 45-minute interval after Pavel made his phone call.
