The Diggie-Ixia Combo Won’t Work in Competitive MLBB — Here’s Why
Diggie Ixia Combo really annoying in ranked.

The Diggie-Ixia combo has gone viral in public matches for being extremely annoying and effective at zoning enemies from a safe distance. The combination of Diggie’s trap-based vision control and Ixia’s turret-like poke damage has frustrated many players who lacked the right tools to counter it. However, at the competitive level, this combo has proven nearly impossible to execute consistently.
The popularity of the Diggie-Ixia combo has stemmed from the unique synergy between the two heroes in lane control. Diggie has provided vision and protection through his bombs and Reverse Time, while Ixia has dished out sustained damage without the need to overcommit. But in the professional scene, not all public strategies have translated well into tournament setups.
Why the Diggie-Ixia Combo Doesn’t Fit Competitive Play
-
Easily Countered Through Draft
This combo has heavily relied on space and positioning. Opponents have easily countered it using burst assassins like Hayabusa or Lancelot, or high-engage tank junglers like Barats and Fredrinn. Diggie, being a stationary and fragile support, has become a liability in mid to late-game teamfights. -
Lane Swapping Punishes the Combo
In tournaments, lane swapping between Gold and EXP laners is a common tactic. If opponents have seen this combo placed in the Gold Lane, they have sent durable EXP laners like Gloo or Yu Zhong to pressure or shut down Ixia early. This has often nullified the lane advantage the combo aimed to create. -
Diggie Hasn't Been a META Pick
One major reason this combo has fallen flat is because Diggie has not been part of the current META. He has been outclassed by roamers like Mathilda, Minotaur, or Chou who have provided more utility, initiation, and teamfight impact. By picking Diggie, teams have sacrificed better tools for objective control. -
Requires Early Snowball That’s Hard to Secure
The Diggie-Ixia combo has thrived only when snowballing in the early game. In competitive matches, teams have denied this with tight macro play. Without a gold or pressure lead, Diggie has become dead weight due to his poor scaling, and Ixia has lacked the proper frontline to deal her full damage. -
Breaks Teamfight Structure
Perhaps the biggest flaw of this combo has been its lack of balanced teamfight structure. With no strong engage or crowd control, teamfights have usually started from a defensive position. Against coordinated dives, Diggie and Ixia have often crumbled due to poor mobility and survivability.
Pro players have always looked beyond “annoying” lane tactics. They have considered all aspects—rotation, objective control, scaling, and role synergy. In that context, Diggie and Ixia have had clashing identities: one as a vision-based support, the other as a DPS who thrives behind a solid frontline.
While fun in public games and potentially useful as a surprise tactic in ranked play, the Diggie-Ixia combo has lacked the resilience required in high-level competition. There have been simply too many holes in drafting, gameplay, and execution for pro teams to exploit.
At the end of the day, professional MLBB has demanded consistency, flexibility, and strong adaptability. Two hyper-specialist heroes like Diggie and Ixia have only limited a team’s strategic options.
For that reason, the Diggie-Ixia combo has remained nearly unviable in the competitive MLBB scene. It may shine in creative content or public matches—but not under the spotlight of MPL or world-stage tournaments.
