Indonesia once again had to face Vietnam in an esports Grand Final at the 32nd SEA Games (Cambodia 2023), after their previous matchup in the qualifying round.
Indonesia displayed an entertaining performance that led to a pandemonium from the audience at the NagaWorld Entertainment Complex. Aside from that, the support also came from many Indonesians who watched the game via live stream.
Since the first round, both teams brought their A-game. The Crossfire national teams played aggressively. However, Indonesia national Crossfire team had to admit to Vietnam’s superiority. The 3-round match was won by Vietnam in a 3-0 clean sweep.
The national Crossfire team had to settle for 2nd place and took home the silver medal. However, this is certainly a new feat for the national Crossfire team since their participation at the 31st SEA Games.
The Indonesian Esports National Team Manager, Mahatma Arfala Thohir, expressed his gratitude for the achievement of the national Crossfire team.
“The national Crossfire Team's achievement in the Grand Final of the 32nd SEA Games Cambodia 2023 is something that we should be grateful of. Even though they hadn't been able to bring home gold on this occasion, the Indonesian National Crossfire Team has shown high quality game. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the National Crossfire Team for bringing home the medal for Indonesia, as well as to all Indonesian people who have shown their support both at the venue and through live stream.”
Meanwhile, the Head Coach of the Indonesian National Esports Team, Yohannes Paraloan Siagian, admitted that he was very proud of the National Crossfire Team's journey.
“We witnessed firsthand how the athletes competed. Their spirit in the Grand Final deserves our greatest appreciation. Furthermore, this is the latest feat for the National Crossfire Team. At the previous SEA Games, the National Crossfire Team won bronze, and now they're able to bring home silver. This proves that the Indonesian National Crossfire Team experienced a great improvement, and their hard work during the National Training Center has been resulting in perfect results for Indonesia's glory.”
