Bandai Namco recently teased fans with the latest video that hints at a new Tekken project. At the EVO 2022, after the Tekken 7 Grand Final, Bandai Namco made some major announcements.
Some of the announcements include next year’s Tekken World Tour, which will take place in Amsterdam, a free update for Tekken 7 on 17 August that includes some adjustments and new tactics, and a mysterious teaser video.
The mysterious teaser features Kazuya Mishima’s iconic cutscene where he carries and throws Heihachi Mishima off a cliff. The teaser features the 1994 version of Kazuya before the video shifts and features today’s Kazuya, along with Tekken’s "Get Ready" tagline.
This has certainly made fans excited, some even speculate that the teaser hints at a new Tekken 8 project. This teaser opens up the possibility of a remake, reboot, or an entirely new storyline. But as of now, it seems that fans have to wait a bit longer for the official news regarding the next Tekken project.
The last entry in the series is Tekken 7, which was exclusively released in 2015 on arcade, and on consoles two years after that. Bandai Namco has been adding new characters and stages throughout the last 4 seasons. This game has been quite a success with 9 copies sold to date.
