The International has been held nine times, these are the teams that are going to be in the history book.

The International is one of the most anticipated Dota 2 tournament by the fans and players every year. Besides the massive prize pool, the energy of the player, panelist and audience are amazing! So it’s not surprising to see the participating teams always show their best performance! This is the list of The International winner from year to year!
Natus Vincere - The International 1 (2011)
When TI was first held, a Ukrainian team, Natus Vincere showed a brilliant outing in almost every game they play. The one lost they get is when they were facing EHOME in the grand final. It’s a best of 5 match, but NaVI has a 1 game advantage since they advance through the upper bracket.
In the first game, both teams played aggressively. The match is intense until finally, EHOME managed to hand NaVi their first loss in the tournament. The pace is much slower in game two. It’s because NaVi picked up Spectre. It’s a successful strategy since Spectre is a powerful hero in the late game.
In game three, NaVi played fast with the combination of Beastmaster and Chen. after the Beastmaster picked up Blink Dagger, NaVi has the total control of the match. NaVi then came out as the winner after beating EHOME with the score of 3-1!
Invictus Gaming - The International 2 (2012)
People favored NaVi over Invictus gaming since they are the defending champion.but that doesn’t deter IG. This is proven when in game one they manage to counter NaVi’s aggressive play with Night Stalker and Templar Assassin. IG destroyed NaVi in 23 minutes and takes their mid barrack. Five minutes later Puppey and friends typed in “GG” after losing their bottom barrack.
In game two, IG used Night Stalker and Templar Assassin again. Unfortunately, NaVi has the counter for the combination. As a result, NaVi’s carry Naga Siren becomes fat and went out of control. NaVi easily wins game two.
In the third game, IG managed to beat NaVi with a score of 20-2. It’s all thanks to great team fight execution with aoe heroes such as Dark Seer, Enigma, and Disruptor. There’s one game left before IG can lift the trophy and the Chinese team doesn’t waste their time. Ther match went intense and make unnecessary mistakes. In the end, IG’s better combo dethrones NaVi. final score 3-1 for IG!
Alliance - The Internatinal 3 (2013)
For the third time NaVi reached the grand final of The International! This time they are facing the rising European team, Alliance. In the first game, NaVi decided to use risky strat by picking unusual carry heroes. They have to pay the price and lose the match in just 16 minutes.
The last game went exciting and intense! Both teams are in a similar situation in the late game. But s4 becomes the mvp after his Dream Coilsuccessfully cancels the teleportation of several NaVi’ players that were trying to defend their base. Alliance wins with a score of 3-2.
Newbee - The International 4 (2014)
2014 was the year where a Chinese team is locked to be the winner of TI. the dream team Newbee faced one of the Chinese veteran teams, Vici Gaming. In the first game, VG played aggressively by picking ganking heroes such as Brewmaster, Clockwerk, Shadow Shaman, and Earthshaker. This strat was successful after Newbee successfully put constant pressure from the early game.
Newbee only needed to win one game to bring home the title. In the last game, VG played offensively, but Newbee always counters their play. The match ends in just 15 minutes after Newbee lakes the lead 19-3. Newbee is the winner after beating VG 3-1.

Evil Geniuses - The International 5 (2015)
The match between the host, EG, against the dark horse team from China, CDEC, was a great match. In the first match, SumaiL played his main hero Storm Spirit, and his greedy play caused him to die multiple times in the midlane. However, CDEC’s early advantage was meaningless after a great team fight execution by EG. SumaiL that was trailing in networth instantly becoming rich and help EG win their first game.
In the first until the third game, both EG and CDEC are neck and neck. The event in the fourth game is what a lot of fans still remember. This is where the legendary 6 million Echo Slam erupts. With a combination of Ice Blast from PPD and Echo Slam by Universe, EG erased 4 CDEC players from the map while the rest are fighting Roshan. EG wins with a score of 3-1 over CDEC.
Wings Gaming - The International 6 (2016)
No one expected that team Digital Chaos can advance to the grand final after beating Evil Geniuses. DC shock the audience after taking down Wings Gaming in the first game. It’s all thanks to their brilliance playing Skywrath mage as a midlaner.
With one game left to make Wings the new champ, they picked Anti-Mage as their hard carry. AM is known for being weak in the early game, and was bullied by DC with heroes such as Night Stalker and Vengeful Spirit. DC had an 8k gold lead. But excellent team fight execution from Wings turns the table and helped AM take the lead in networth. Wings Gaming takes the title after beating DC in game four.
Team Liquid - The Internatinal 7 (2017)
You may have heard about the hot news of Team Liquid’s success in The International 207 and brings home $10.8 million. Like the past champions of TI before them, Kuro Salehi Takhasomi and friends have tor struggle to win The Internationa;l 7.
Placed in the lower bracket, Team Liquid faced Team Secret that was under the leadership of Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov – KuroKy’s good friend. Passing through every match to reach the grand final, Liquid gains more momentum after beating LGD.Forever Young, for the first time in history, Team Liquid advanced to the grand final.
After being predicted not winning, Team Liquid successfully proved that their opponent is a human too. KuroKy’s plan helped them win game one in 27 minutes. Team Liquid showed great performance game after game. But their biggest win came when MinD_ContRoL, GH, and KuroKy beats the five heroes of Newbee. The cheering crowd marks the win of Team Liquid over Newbee.
Team OG - The International 8 (2018)
Being blessed by heaven, Team OG wins The International 8. After the tiring two weeks. The European team beats the Chinese team PSG.LGD. OG went through a rough stretch in Dota 2 Pro Circuit 2017-2018 so three of their players left the team. They lost Tal “Fly” Aizik and Gustav “s4” Magnusson that went to play for Evil Geniuses and Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok that transferred to VGJ.Storm.
The grand final of The International 8 was the toughest match for both OG and PSG.LGD. In game five, the player that just joined the team for 2 months, Topias 'Topson' Taavitsainen, make history. He played brilliantly while using Zeus.
The combination of Topson and Anathan “Ana” Pham that played in midlane with Ember Spirit render PSG.LGD useless. Team OG wins 2-0 over PSG.LGD.
Team OG - The International 9 (2019)
Every Dota 2 fans are hyped up seeing OG lift the Aegis Shield that marks their win in The International 9 2019 with a score of 3-1 over Team Liquid. Additionally, the win marks that OG is the first team to win a back to back TI with the same roster!
In the best-of-5 games, OG successfully takes three games. Although they lost the first game, Ceb, n0tail, Topson, Ana, and JerAx dominates the next three games. OG can’t do much against Miracle with TA in the first lane. In the bottom lane, W33 and Meepo have the leeway to farm as much as he wants. Until the 35th minute, Liquid lead with a total kill of 22-10. After making a comeback in the following 5 minutes, OG failed to match Liquid’s aggressive play.
Learning from their mistake, OG is like a blood-thirsty beast in the next game. Liquid wasn’t given the room to farm. Topson’s killer instinct is unstoppable and he gets a Rampage! KuroKy and friends are forced to give up in minute 32. In game three OG is just flexing their power as the defending champ. Topson gets an Ultra Kill in minute 11. Looking at Liquid’s inability to fight back, OG destroys the team in minute 13, and not too long after Liquid waves the white flag.
With a score of 3-1, OG came out as the winner and become the first team to win a back to back The International title. Liquid that was absent in The International 8 grand final finally get to reach the grand final again.
