3. WarGames.

WarGames is one of the pioneer movies that helped boost the popularity of the hacking genre in movies. Created in 1983, the movie is influenced by how people think of the world of hacking. 

Starred by Matthew Broderick, Ally Sheedy, and John Woods, the story is about a group of young hackers that found a leak in the main computer server owned by the U.S military. Please do watch this movie to get a realistic depiction of how the hacking world works.

4. Blackhat

If WarGames is too old for your taste, then maybe you can try watching Blackhat. With Chris Hemsworth as one of the casting members, the movie is about a combined task force from the U.S.A and China working together to hunt down cybercrime mafia from all over the world. The conflict that the main character suffered from really makes this movie interesting. 

5. Who Am I: No System is Safe

Who Am I: No System is Safe is a movie about hacking from Germany that often compared to a popular series with the same hacking theme, Mr. Robot.  The story of this movie is about a group of hackers that wanted to be acknowledged by the world.

Through this movie, you get an idea about the horrible world of Dark Web that had been hidden. Make sure you watch this movie if you love plot twist.

6. The Matrix

Yeah, we know that The Matrix is far from the reality of hacking that actually happens but you can’t deny that geeks and hackers love this movie. The move that boosts the popularity of Keanu Reeves is about a hacker named Neo

One day, Neo faces the reality that the world that he knows is just an illusion from a computer. Even if this is a movie about hacking, the movie is also famous for its fighting scenes and special effects.

7. KUNG FURY

Yes, the list is a list of movies about hacking that depict the act of hacking realistically and Kung Fury doesn’t fit both categories. But you best believe that you can’t talk about hacking movies without mentioning Kung Fury.

Compared to other movies on this list, Kung Fury is an extraordinarily eccentric comedic movie. How can it not be, in the movie a hacker helps the main character to travel back to the past to chase Hitler that tried to take over the world…….with kung fu. Yep the movie is absurd

Originally the director made the movie as a project to be shared freely on YouTube. But because of the popularity, Kung Fury 2 is in the works.
