Exciting news for Death Stranding fans! Hideo Kojima recently announced via his official Twitter account that the game Death Stranding: Director's Cut developed by Kojima Productions will soon be coming to Mac, iOS and iPad devices. This game is scheduled to be released in 2023.
Death Stranding was initially released for PlayStation 4 in November 2019, and then made available for PC via the Steam platform in July 2020, although it was delayed from its original planned date for June 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The version of Death Stranding: Director's Cut intended for PlayStation 5 was only launched in September 2021. In March 2022, this game was also released for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. In addition, Death Stranding also inspired the development of a movie adaptation currently in development by Hammerstone Studios, which was previously involved in the production of the films Barbarian and Bill and Ted Face the Music.
Kojima Productions is currently busy developing a sequel to Death Stranding which does not yet have an official title. This game will feature a number of famous stars such as Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Troy Baker.
Kojima revealed that the story of this sequel had actually been completed before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, however, after experiencing the pandemic, he decided to rewrite the entire story from the beginning. He also stated that he no longer wanted to predict the future through his stories. Apart from this sequel, Kojima is also busy working on other projects that are completely new and currently in the experimental stage, as well as several other visual projects.
At the Xbox & Bethesda Game Showcase livestream in June 2022, Kojima revealed that he was forging a special partnership with Xbox Game Studios to develop never-before-seen games. He mentioned that this was possible thanks to the latest cloud technology from Microsoft and changing trends in the gaming industry.
Not only that, in October 2020, Kojima Productions confirmed that they were working on a new project and were currently looking for workers for various positions at their Tokyo studio. Then, in July 2021, technology news VentureBeat reported that Kojima had reached a deal with Microsoft to release new games on the Xbox platform.
Kojima has also hinted in January 2022 that he will start a new project focused on radical experiments. Apart from that, Kojima Productions is also opening a new division in Los Angeles, California in 2021 which will focus on music, television and movie.
