The Sega Asia YouTube channel posted a trailer featuring the characters Yushiro and Tamayo, as well as Enmu for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Kepputan). Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles will add Yushiro, Tamayo, and Enmu as playable DLC characters for Versus Mode in the third free update.

The game has three pre-planned free updates. The first update rolled out on November 4, 2021, which added Rui and Akaza as playable characters. The second update added Yahaba and Susamaru on November 24, 2021.

Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles launched in North America and Europe for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on October 15, 2021. The game was released in Japan on October 14, 2021. Sega released the game in English for the Asian region on October 14, 2021.

This game has a story mode that takes you to play the first season of the Demon Slayer anime. The Battle Mode lets you play as Demon Slayer characters. The playable characters include Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, Giyu Tomioka, Sakonji Urokodaki, Sabito, Makomo, Shinobu Kochou, Kyojuro Rengoku, Tanjiro Kamado (using Hinokami Kagura), and Murata.

Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Giyu Tomioka from "Kimetsu Gakuen!" also appeared in Demon Slayer: Hinokami Chronicles as a playable character.
