Yurino "Donkey," the legendary Mobile Legends world champion, recently made a controversial statement via his Insta Story. This statement came in response to a question from one of his followers on Instagram, who asked about the existence of many imported players in the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Indonesia.
Yurino "Donkey" Says MPL ID Progress Turns Players Into Robots
A follower asked a critical question, "MPL has a lot of imported players. Is Indonesia currently unable to develop its own great players?" Without hesitation, Donkey answered in the affirmative to the question. "The Indonesian team with all its progress in MPL makes players look like robots," said Donkey in his Insta Story.
Donkey continued the comparison between the Indonesian teams and the Philippine teams, where according to him, the Filipino team gave its players the freedom to develop their "animal instincts", which were able to master the Land of Dawn. Filipino players are recognized for having a variety of games that makes them unpredictable, with the ability to swerve and change game strategies with ease.
"Meanwhile, Indonesian players (only execute) text books, so when they are exposed to new things, they are shocked," continued Donkey. According to him, players who rely too much on theory and cannot adapt quickly will have difficulty when competing.
Donkey expressed his view that players who only focus on skrim (pre-competition training) will face difficulties in adapting during official matches. He emphasized the importance of players having creativity and the ability to vary their play.
Although Donkey's statement can be considered controversial, this view can also be a call to further develop the abilities of local players, increase creativity in play, and ensure that they can compete on the international stage. His statement may spark further discussion about the importance of developing local talent in the Indonesian esports industry.
