Disney released a special video for the anime segment of the live action and anime hybrid fantasy adventure project titled Dragons of Wonderhatch (Wonderhatch -Sora-Tobu Ryu no Shima-), on Tuesday, December 5th 2023. This Dragons of Wonderhatch video introduces four new cast members for the anime segment.

The additional cast for the anime segment includes (from left to right):

- Yu Shimamura as Kate, deputy commander of the Akuta unit

- Kenta Miyake as Byce, a member of the Akuta unit

- Jun Fukuyama as Gatz, Akuta unit member

- Shimba Tsuchiya as Maul, a child of Upananta who still believes without any reason in the existence of another world

While the live action segments depict a "real world" setting, the anime segments present an otherworldly (isekai) setting where dragons exist. Dragons of Wonderhatch will premiere on Disney+ on December 20th 2023.

Nagi, a high school student in the real-world setting, and Tyme, a boy who lives in another world where dragon riders can hear the screams of dragons and communicate with them all, are the main characters of Dragons of Wonderhatch.

Movie actress Sena Nakajima plays Nagi, and movie actor Daiken Okudaira (Insomniacs After School live action) appears as Tyme. Yoshito Emmanuelle plays Nagi's friend Son, and Mackenyu Arata (One Piece live action) plays the dragon rider Akuta.

The additional live action cast for Dragons of Wonderhatch involves:

• Rena Tanaka as Hana
• Masaki Miura as Taichi
• Riko Narumi as Ayana Nijisaki
• SUMIRE as Saira

Previously, the cast of the announced Dragons of Wonderhatch anime segment involved:

• Kenjiro Tsuda as Gyro
• Shunsuke Takeuchi as Gafin

The project was written by Kyota Fujimoto, Takamasa Oe, and Anna Kawahara, and produced by Teruhisa Yamamoto, Hitoshi Itou, and Hideyuki Wakuta. C & I Entertainment acted as the production company, while Production I.G produced the anime segments.

Kentaro Hagiwara is the director after five years of developing the project, with Takashi Otsuka directing the anime segment.
