MPL ID S16 Playoff Drama: Every Possible Scenario in Bloody Week Part 2

MPL ID S16 Playoff Drama in this last week of regular season.

Mobile Legends | 16 October

2025-10-16T16:49:18.000Z

The Bloody Week of MPL ID Season 16 had reached its peak intensity. After Geek Fam had officially been eliminated in Week 8, only three teams had remained in contention for the final playoff slot at NICE PIK2DEWA United Esports, NAVI, and RRQ Hoshi.

Mathematically, DEWA United had possessed the strongest chance to qualify. However, Octa and his squad could not afford to relax in Week 9, as they had been scheduled to face two powerhouse opponents — ONIC Esports and EVOS.

In their first meetings, DEWA had fallen 0–2 against both teams. That record had painted a difficult picture for them heading into the final week, though many fans still believed the “Children of the Gods” could stage a surprise comeback at the last moment.

Meanwhile, NAVI had faced a similar challenge. Andoryuuu and his teammates had been set to face EVOS before heading into their biggest regular-season battle against RRQ. Much like DEWA, NAVI had also suffered 0–2 defeats in both of their first meetings, but with all the improvements they had shown recently, they might finally rewrite their fate in Week 9.

On the other hand, RRQ Hoshi entered Bloody Week with the slimmest mathematical chance to qualify. Sitting in seventh place with a 5–9 record, they had needed back-to-back victories in their last two matches — against Team Liquid ID and NAVI — to keep their playoff dream alive.

RRQ’s Situation and Rising Pressure

Although RRQ had managed to break their losing streak after defeating DEWA, their remaining opponents were no easy task. Team Liquid ID (TLID) had already been eliminated from playoff contention, but they shocked everyone in Week 8 with back-to-back wins against Alter Ego and Geek Fam.

What made it even more interesting was TLID’s open statement that they wanted to “drag other teams down” with them in the standings. In other words, RRQ could not afford to take them lightly.

Their final match against NAVI would most likely become the decisive showdown that determined which team would advance to the playoffs.

All Possible Scenarios to Reach MPL ID S16 Playoffs

Here is a full breakdown of every scenario for the three remaining contenders:

DEWA United Esports

  • DEWA would qualify if they secured one match victory in their final two games.

  • DEWA could also qualify if they lost 1–2 in both matches.

  • If they lost 0–2 in both, they would need one of the following:

    1. RRQ lost at least one match, or

    2. NAVI lost one match 0–2 and only won 2–1 in the other, or

    3. NAVI lost both remaining matches.

NAVI Esports

  • NAVI would qualify if they defeated RRQ in their final match.

  • NAVI could also qualify if they beat EVOS and RRQ lost to TLID.

  • If NAVI won 2–0 against EVOS and RRQ won 2–1 against TLID, NAVI could still qualify even if they lost 1–2 to RRQ in their final series.

RRQ Hoshi

  • RRQ would qualify if they swept both of their remaining matches 2–0.

  • If they won 2–1 in both, RRQ would need:

    1. NAVI to lose, or

    2. NAVI to only win 2–1 against EVOS.

  • If RRQ lost 0–2 to TLID, they must:

    1. Hope NAVI lost 0–2 to EVOS, and

    2. Defeat NAVI 2–0 in the last match.

  • If RRQ lost 1–2 to TLID, they must:

    1. Hope NAVI lost to EVOS, and

    2. Beat NAVI in their final series.

Dual Qualification Scenarios

  • DEWA + NAVI qualify if:

    • DEWA gained at least 2 total game points from their two matches (losing 1–2, 1–2).

    • NAVI won both remaining matches.

    • If NAVI won 2–0 vs EVOS and RRQ lost 0–2 vs TLID, both DEWA and NAVI would automatically qualify.

  • NAVI + RRQ qualify if:

    • DEWA lost 0–2 to ONIC on Day 1,

    • RRQ and NAVI both won 2–0 on Day 2,

    • DEWA lost 0–2 to EVOS, and

    • RRQ defeated NAVI by any score on Day 3.

  • DEWA + RRQ qualify if:

    • DEWA gained at least 2 game points (losing 1–2, 1–2).

    • NAVI won 2–0 vs EVOS, and RRQ won 2–0 vs TLID.

    • In the final match, RRQ defeated NAVI by any score (RRQ lead in head-to-head).
