For football fans, you must be familiar with FIFA. This EA's flagship game is still a tough competitor for Konami as a football-themed sports game. But it looks like EA will follow in the footsteps of Konami who changed the name of PES to eFootball. Recently EA is rumored to be changing the official name FIFA in the near future.
This was conveyed by a well-known journalist, Jeff Grubb who said that he received information about the FIFA name change plan from an insider at EA. The name will be changed from FIFA to EA Sports Football Club. However, Jeff said he did not know when the name change would be realized.
"EA Sports Football Club, EA Sports FC, that will be the name. I saw the trademark. At first I thought it was just for a feature in online mode. But when I asked my acquaintances, that's the name of the game," said Jeff Grubb.
Not long ago, EA was hit by a licensing problem for the use of the FIFA name on its game. The name FIFA itself has actually been used as the name of the world football organization. So EA has to pay for the license to use the name FIFA. Moreover, every year, the price of the license continues to increase so that EA chooses to consider changing the name.
EA is currently focusing on the FIFA 22 series which is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned on Dunia Games for more articles about anime and games. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
