Curious about what easter eggs are in Marvel's Spider-Man? Find out the easter eggs explanation here!
Games | 29 September
Since its first release in 2018, Marvel's Spider-Man has been recognized as one of the best superhero games ever made and its latest remastered version for PC has also received rave reviews. With a sequel planned for the game as well, players can expect much more from the addition of a new story to this Spider-Verse saga.
Although the story of Marvel's Spider-Man itself does not take place in the Earth-616 universe that became the comic plot or within the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), there are still many aspects of Marvel's Spider-Man that of course make many references to the comics, be it through the characters, the location, or the dialogue. Finding an easter egg like that is one of the most fun things you can experience while playing Marvel's Spider-Man. Curious about what easter eggs are in Marvel's Spider-Man? Find out the easter eggs explanation here!
1. The Office of Lawyer Matt Murdock aka Daredevil
Daredevil aka Matt Murdock is one of the greatest lawyers in Marvel comics. Therefore, it is not surprising that many references to his law firm and the character of Matt Murdock himself appear in Marvel's Spider-Man.
Daredevil's law firm, named Nelson and Murdock, appears in-game at its location inside Hell's Kitchen, and across the street from Josie's Bar, which is also Daredevil's favorite bar. Fogwell's Gym, where Daredevil's father trains, also appears in the game. Finally, Spider-Man himself has Nelson and Murdock's business card, which resonates even better after Daredevil helped him deal with his legal problems in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
2. John Jameson III Cameo
Everyone knows that J. Jonah Jameson hates Spider-Man with a burning passion. What people may not know is that he has a son who is an astronaut by profession, who makes a small cameo in Marvel's Spider-Man.
In the game, John Jameson III makes a tweet that appears on Peter Parker's social media timeline. John Jameson III expressed his joy at being able to hear his father's podcast while he was on the space station. While this is a brief appearance for gamers, it demonstrates the willingness of Marvel's Spider-Man to use minor references like this, and also potentially opens the door for John Jameson III to return in the game's sequel as Man-Wolf.
3. Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum
As one of the most powerful wizards from Marvel comics, Doctor Strange has been a huge help to Spider-Man in No Way Home. Even though he doesn't appear in Marvel's Spider-Man, his house definitely does.
The Sanctum Sanctorum, canonically located at 177A Bleecker Street, can be found in Greenwich in the game. Unfortunately, this building only serves as a landmark location. The gamers won't be able to enter it. It's kind of sad not being able to see the inside of the building or Doctor Strange himself, but given his powers, his inclusion would take away from Spider-Man's story and the challenges he must go through to save New York City.
4. Kingpin's Walking Stick
The first enemy that Spider-Man beat in Marvel's Spider-Man is Kingpin. But his influence in the city and the power vacuum it leaves cause further problems, as well as another Easter Egg.
On a mission involving one of Kingpin's safe houses, the gamer can take control of Mary Jane Watson as she goes on a bit of her own investigation. It's on this occasion when MJ sees all of Kingpin's art and artifacts, gamers can spy on Kingpin's famous gem wand on display. This deadly stick is one of Kingpin's mainstay items and hides various weapons in it.
5. Statue of Inhumans’Lockjaw
Lockjaw is a giant teleportation dog usually associated with Inhumans stories. Although it does not make a physical appearance in Marvel's Spider-Man, Lockjaw does appear as a statue.
In the game, if Spider-Man goes to the Financial District, he will find a place where, in a real-life version of New York City, the Charging Bull statue is located. But in this game, instead of the Charging Bull statue, it is replaced by an adorable dog statue named Lockjaw. Interestingly enough, this Easter Egg could exist because Insomniac Games could not include the Charging Bull statue due to licensing and legal constraints. Still, seeing Lockjaw in this game is a fun little reference for the Inhumans.

6. The Spider-42 That Bite Miles Morales
Miles Morales, one of Spider-Man's greatest allies who eventually became another Spider-Man superhero as well, was bitten by a spider in Marvel's Spider-Man and as a result, he got spider powers too. This event itself is the Easter Egg.
If the gamers look closely, the spider that bit Miles is number 42. This fits well with the comic story, where Miles was also bitten by a spider marked number 42. The number itself also refers to the legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson. This spider bite did help lead to a spinoff game starring Miles Morales as Spider-Man, which also helped prepare for the upcoming sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man game.
7. The Symbiote Suit and the Origin of Venom's Powers
The ending of Marvel's Spider-Man reveals another of Spider-Man's greatest villains, Venom. However, the Easter Egg that referred him to appeared much earlier.
In a conversation with Detective Yuri Watanabe, she casually asks Spider-Man if he has a black and white costume. Spider-Man's pause and hesitant response are evidence to confirm our suspicions that this is indeed a reference to the Symbiote Suit that eventually became Venom in the comics. With the Venom teaser at the end of this game, expectations for the villain's first appearance in the game's sequel are very high.
8. Uncle Ben’s Existence
Uncle Ben is often Spider-Man's primary motivation for becoming a superhero and is often the man behind one of the most famous quotes in Spider-Man's saddest story of all time. Unfortunately, Uncle Ben hasn't even really been mentioned in recent Marvel projects like in the MCU.
But he made a small appearance in Marvel's Spider-Man in the form of a photo at Aunt May's desk, where it appears that Uncle Ben is helping child Peter Parker tidy the table. Seeing his smiling face in the photo and realizing how tragic Peter felt lost, made the ending of this game even more difficult to watch. You can also find Uncle Ben's grave in the cemetery.
9. Stan Lee’s Final Cameo
Everyone knows that Marvel creator mogul Stan Lee has to make cameos in almost every Marvel show. It's not surprising to see Stan Lee also make a cameo in Marvel's Spider-Man.
After meeting Mary Jane at a restaurant, Peter rushes to respond to police sirens that sound in the distance. As Mary Jane also got up from her seat to leave, Stan Lee, appearing as the restaurant's cook commented, "It's great to see you two together again. You've always been my favourite." Hearing the original voice here brings a very sad feeling, especially when considering Stan Lee passed away two months after the game's release in 2018.
10. Stopping a Fast Train
One of the most iconic scenes in Spider-Man 2 is the fight with Dr. Octopus on a moving train, and Spidey's attempts to stop him when the train's speed spirals out of control.
This scene is referenced during a cutscene in Marvel's Spider-Man game when Spider-Man must stop a speeding train. He tried the same strategy as seen in the film, and when it failed, he commented, "It really worked the first time."
