Shazam! Fury of the Gods can be said to be a movie that is both exciting and tense, with added humor that keeps you from getting bored even though its duration is rather long. There are quite a number of references from movies outside the DCEU that are present in Shazam! Fury of the Gods takes the form of easter eggs which some people might find difficult to recognize. In fact, there are 15 easter eggs found by the Dunia Games team in this movie. Let's see in more detail.

1. The Fast and Furious

In one scene, when Shazam and Hespera meet and are sitting down, Shazam also tells her that he might not have as much experience as Hespera because he feels that he is not as old as Hespera. That was continued with Shazam who said that he saw all the Fast and Furious movies. This is actually a reference to Mirren's role as Queenie in The Fast and Furious franchise.

2. Jamil from Peacemaker: Season 1

This movie has shown Rizwan Manji appearing as a museum worker. Rizwan Manji himself is no stranger to DCEU fans, because previously he played Jamil the janitor in Peacemaker season 1. Even though he previously worked in the franchise, Rizwan played a completely new character in the movie. As a Docent, his death also confirmed that his roles in the 2 movies were different.

3. The DC Super Hero Called Shazam

In the meeting scene with the child therapist, Shazam once referred to the figure of Flash, by saying that there is another superhero who has the same yellow lightning on his costume and he is also very fast. Not only that, he also mentions the names of other DC superheroes such as Aquaman and Batman. Of course it's a double reference to Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a reminder that this movie takes place within the larger DC Universe franchise.

4. Annabelle Doll

On the movie Shazam! Fury of The Gods, you can actually see the appearance of the spooky doll Annabelle. This isn't the first time Annabelle has appeared in a DC Extended Universe movie. In fact, Annabelle had previously been seen in Aquaman and Shazam. So this time, the doll also got a share of appearing as a guest at the pediatrician's office. The reason for the existence of the doll is because Sandberg himself is the director of Annabelle: Creation (2017).

5. The Letter "S" Reference to Starro's Figure

Besides the Annabelle doll in the pediatrician's office, in fact there's also a Starro figure on the wallpaper that hangs on the walls. Starro can be seen from the letter “S” which means Starro, a kaiju who is a big enemy from The Suicide Squad. For some reason, there are easter eggs that lead to Starro, but there is a lot of speculation that Starro will later appear again in another DC movie.

6. Tribute for Lucio Fulci

In one scene of Shazam getting injured, you can see there will be a big billboard that says "Fulci". Fulci himself is actually an Italian horror director who has the full name as Lucio Fulci. Nicknamed the "Godfather of Gore," his movies including A Cat in the Brain, Don't Torture a Duckling, The Black Cat and The Beyond are Sandberg's favorite Fulci movies. So, the existence of the word Fulci is a tribute to Lucio Fulci himself.

7. References to the Platforming Game Joakim 2018

In the picture showing Billy Batson, Freddy Freeman, Mary Bromfield, and Eugene Choi, you can see the shirt used by Eugene Choi. The white shirt shows a screen printing of an image from the game Iconoclasts. Iconoclasts itself has its own meaning for Sandberg, in 2019, Sandberg's older brother, video game developer Joakim 'Konjak' Sandberg, made a cameo in Shazam!, where Iconoclasts is a reference to the platforming game Joakim 2018.

8. Captain Every Power Jr. Refers to the Comic Name

One of the easter eggs related to the comic, was when Freddy Freeman joked about the superhero name Shazam. Freddy has changed his name to Captain Every Power, he refers to Shazam as Captain Every Power Jr. That moment hilariously refers to the superhero name Freddy who actually existed in the comics, that name is "Captain Marvel Jr." or “Shazam Jr.”

9. Reference to Tawney The Kitten

In the first movie, there are several brief references to the comic character Tawky Tawny, such as backpack pins and stuffed animals. In Fury of the Gods itself, that still continues, when Darla saves a box full of kittens. After he drives the other civilians off the bridge, he ends up with one of the kittens. Darla also named her new kitten Tawny, a reference to Tawney The Kitten from the comic Tawky Tawny.

10. Freddy Makes a Ridiculous Joke about Wonder Woman's Disguise

In Shazam 2, Freddy joked about Mary (played by Grace Fulley) wearing sunglasses and trying to have a normal life despite looking exactly like her real self. It was during the conversation that Freddy commented that Wonder Woman probably wasn't wearing glasses to try to hide her identity. This is a reference to the times when Lynda Carter and Gal Gadot's version of Wonder Woman has done just that.

11. Billy Batson Turns Out to be a Batman and Flash’s Fan

There are many references to Batman and Flash scattered throughout the Fury of The Gods movies that prove that Billy Batson is a fan of the two heroes. Examples include Billy's room which includes several references to Batman and Flash's images displayed on its walls. There's the Batman mug featured in Rock of Eternity, and even Billy going to the therapist with a Batman action figure in his office.

12. Game of Thrones

One of the Daughters of Atlas, Kalypso asks the Hespiredes to help them retrieve Atlas's power from Shazam and his family who are magical heroes. She also presents Ladon, a powerful dragon made of wood. Funnily enough, Shazam threw a Game of Thrones-themed jab at the dragon-riding Kalypso when he called her “Khaleesi.” This is a reference to the honorary title of Daenerys Targaryen, who rides her own dragon in the series.

13. Freddy and Billy’s T-Shirts

Freddy Freeman has been seen wearing several of Warner Bros' movie-themed t-shirts, even that includes Fury of the Gods. He's been seen wearing a shirt with The Iron Giant on the front and another that references The Lord of the Rings at the start of the sequel. Freddy has also been seen wearing a shirt that references the Christmas horror classic Gremlins. Not only Freddy, even Billy was also wearing a shirt that references another movie, Steven Spielberg's iconic classic The Goonies.

14. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman Cameo

Gal Gadot's version of Wonder Woman has finally appeared, fully appearing at Billy's funeral. Using his divine powers to restore magic to his wand, Shazam returns to life. So the meeting of Shazam and Wonder Woman has become such an interesting cameo for DCEU fans, different from the cameo of the headless Superman in the first movie.

15. Post Credits Features Characters from Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad

In the post credits, characters from Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad appear, they are Emilia Harcourt (played by Jennifer Holland) and John Economos (played by Steve Agee). They are sent on a mission by Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis) to recruit Shazam into the Justice Society. It's sadly still unclear where that scene fits into the continuity of the DC Universe, but it appears to have taken place before Peacemaker as Harcourt and Economos were still willing to work for Waller.
