Eiichiro Oda gave a message to Yoshihiro Togashi through the "Yoshihiro Togashi Exhibition Event" which was recently held in Japan. Oda explained that he felt grateful when several years ago he met Togashi for the first time. He thanked Togashi for appraising his work and earning him the “Rookie of the Year” award.
Oda himself has been following Togashi's work since winning his first award. According to Oda, Togashi only shows his ability if he works in an important place. "The story of Amanuma and Kurama in Yu Yu Hakusho gave me goosebumps," said Oda who was amazed at Togashi.
Oda also added that Hunter x Hunter is a 'free' and cool manga. As his gratitude and respect, Oda drew Gon, Luffy, and Chopper for Togashi. He also congratulated the author Yu Yu Hakusho and the Hunter x Hunter!
