EVO Online 2020 Announced List of Fighting Games For the Competition

The game list on EVO Online 2020 shocked many people due to the absence of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Evolution Championship Series or also known as EVO is the annual esports tournament that competes various fighting games. Held annually since 2002, the EVO 2020 Tournament which previously scheduled at Las Vegas in June, must be postponed and changed into an Online Tournament format called EVO Online 2020.

With this change, EVO officials must change the event’s duration. If previously EVO held in various places in Las Vegas within one week, EVO Online will run for five weeks starting from June to August.

On their official Twitter account, EVO announced that the EVO Online will come on July 4th until August 2nd. In each week, EVO Online will hold the match on Saturday and Sunday. Here are the official dates for EVO Online:

  • July 4-5
  • July 11-12
  • July 18-19
  • July 25-26
  • July 31-August 2

EVO Online 2020 Complete Games

As usual, each year, EVO will play different fighting games. To show in EVO, esports athletes must pass various steps and elimination rounds. From many fighting games in existence, here are fighting games that will be competed on EVO Online 2020:

  • Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[cl-r]
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Tekken 7
  • Street Fighter V Champion Edition
  • SoulCalibur VI
  • Granblue Fantasy: Versus
  • Samurai Shodown

When announced via EVO’s official Twitter account, this list received mixed responses. One tweet that many people talked about is the absence of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from this event. Moreover, the fighting game released for the Nintendo Switch is a game with the most popular fighting genre in the world.

EVO Online 2020 officials are yet to comment on the absence of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from this popular fighting game tournament, but many people assumed that this decision was made because of the Nintendo’s troubled online connection.

Aside from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, gamers also talked about the missing Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite and Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid from the roster. It turns out that both games are known to have the best online experience that possibly featured in EVO Online 2020.

EVO Online Open Tournament Game List 

Aside from seven games that already written above, EVO Online 2020 will also hold the Open Tournament for all players. Hence the name, in Open Turnamen, players from all over the world, both veteran and amateurs, can test their might here.

Games that will be competed in Open Tournament also come differently with games on EVO Online 2020. It is recorded that there are four games in EVO Online Open Tournament so far:

  • Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath
  • Killer Instinct (2013)
  • Them's Fighting Herds
  • Skullgirls Encore

Aside from Mortal Kombat 11, those three games are new to EVO. With those games announced, it will be interesting to see the winner of EVO Online Open Tournament, will it professional or amateur players? Let’s see.
