Jurassic World: Dominion has fans excited and interested to see how it will end the long-running Jurassic series. Not only does it seem to feature some cool dinosaurs, but the film will also bring back some of the older characters from Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.
It will be interesting to see if Jurassic World: Dominion ends up tying in some off-screen stories from the previous films as there are a surprising number of canon stories told between these films. From important information about dinosaurs to the origins of certain characters that are supposed to be explored in the film, there are several pieces of information that appear off-screen and are only told through snippets of canon material on the official Jurassic World website, books, deleted scenes created by Universal Pictures.
What are some canon facts about the Jurassic World series that are not shown in this film? Here's the list!
1. The First Successful Dinosaur Clone
By the time Alan Grant and the other guests arrived at Isla Nublar, Jurassic Park was almost complete and ready to become an amusement park. So Jurassic Park fans were never shown which dinosaur John Hammond and InGen could clone first.
During the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a canon book titled Jurassic World: Survival Guide was published. It states that the first dinosaur they succeeded in creating in 1986 was Triceratops, which is also the first dinosaur in the canon novel by Michael Crichton.
2. What Happened To The Dino-Soar Boat In Jurassic Park III?
In Jurassic Park III, the plot begins with a parasailing accident off the coast of Isla Sorna which forces Eric Kirby and his guardian Ben to land on an island infested with dinosaurs. The film only shows the motorboat pulling the parasailing vanishing into the mist of the island of Isla Sorna and then the boat is shown back in the film in a state of disrepair and the people on board have disappeared.
The film never explains what happened to the boat crew and some fans of the film have even speculated that the boat's fate was due to an attack from Spinosaurus, which was also a water-swimming dinosaur. However, Jurassic Park III's ever-changing script revealed an alternate ending that was removed due to production issues that caused the wrecked boat to be a swarm of attacking Pteranodons.
3. The Fifth Member of the Raptor Army
InGen Project I.B.R.I.S. is something that brings Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and his raptor training program, leading to a Raptor squad consisting of Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo.
However, there is a fifth Velociraptor not shown on the film, namely Subject V-2. This Raptor bears an uncanny resemblance to the dull-colored Raptor from the first Jurassic Park film, the V-2 doesn't have the same level of obedience as the rest of the Raptor squad. It is very aggressive and cunning, like the Raptor from the first film which resulted in the Raptor to be euthanized.
4. The T-Rex in Jurassic Park Appears in Jurassic World
Although not mentioned in Jurassic World, it has been confirmed that the Tyrannosaurus Rex that fought the Velociraptors in the first Jurassic Park movie, is actually the same T-Rex featured in both Jurassic World films with its various hints. Those clues were the series of scars it had acquired from the battles with the Raptors.
This T-Rex has become an icon with many famous scenes, acting as an anti-hero character that has even earned its own official name, according to ComicBook.com. A name for the character T-Rex was lifted directly from the novel by Michael Crichton, and its name is Rexy. Rexy will remain the queen of Isla Nublar until Rexy is recaptured to be a part of Jurassic World.
5. Rexy has a Sibling
There's a lot to learn about T-Rex in the Jurassic Park franchise and one of them is the fact that Rexy isn't alone. For years on the official Jurassic World website before it was renovated, fans could see a map of Isla Nublar confirming that the original Tyrannosaurus paddock was meant to house Rexy and a juvenile T-Rex.
Apart from that, there is no word yet on what happened to the teenage T-Rex. Since dinosaurs were bred on Isla Sorna, it's possible that one of the T-Rex featured in The Lost World: Jurassic Park could be a Rexy sibling.

6. Vic Hoskins' Dark History
Vic Hoskins of Jurassic World played by Vincent D'onofrio did not start his relationship with InGen and Masrani Corporations in the film. According to the official Jurassic World website, he was heavily involved in the clean-up operation of the first film trilogy. He is now considered one of the most memorable villains of the series.
Hoskins and his team tracked down and removed an escaped Pteranodon from Isla Sorna from Jurassic Park III, and he was responsible for collecting all of the surviving dinosaurs from Jurassic Park including the aforementioned Brachiosaurus and Rexy.
7. Spinosaurus’ Origin
Jurassic Park III introduced the dreaded Spinosaurus to the series, it is a monstrous creature that stalks the main characters throughout the film. Many have questioned where this genetic clone came from, why it is not on InGen's official asset list, and others. Well, there is an answer to all those questions.
According to Masrani Global's official website, Dr. Henry Wu tried to change the genetic code of the cloning process to display feathers. This resulted in an "accident" being left on Isla Sorna many years after the San Diego incident, thus explaining why the creature was not in the film The Lost World. Spinosaurus can be considered a precursor hybrid to Indominus Rex.
8. The Dead Brachiosaurus in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the Brachiosaurus That Met Alan and Ellie in Jurassic Park
The most shocking scene that fans witnessed in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was the death of a Brachiosaurus, which was as tragic as some of the deaths of humans who succumbed to the hot lava melt from the eruption of Mount Sibo on Isla Sorna. It was a sad scene that brought many viewers to tears the first time they saw it.
This scene was made even sadder when the filmmakers confirmed that it was the Brachiosaurus that Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler had previously seen in the first Jurassic Park. This scene is meant to show that its death signifies the shattering of John Hammond's dreams since the planning of Jurassic Park.
9. How Can Baby T-Rex's Legs Break?
The Lost World: Jurassic Park became famous for its many missing or deleted scenes. One of these scenes actually explains what happens to the baby T-Rex after being taken by Roland Tembo. In the final product of the film, audiences are left to believe that it was Roland who broke this young T-Rex's leg to make it scream to provoke its parents.
This is by no means the case as revealed in the deleted scene, that a drunk Peter Ludlow recklessly tripped and fell on the baby T-Rex thereby breaking its leg which only made Ludlow an even more despicable character. The actual climactic scene is even more satisfying seeing how T-Rex breaks Ludlow's leg allowing the baby to get his chance for revenge.
10. Claire’s Origin
Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) has become one of the franchise's most iconic and boldest characters due to her personality and character that still thrives throughout the Jurassic World films. Well, fans of the character can also learn about her backstory before the events of Jurassic World in the form of a prequel novel entitled The Evolution Of Claire: Jurassic World.
The story shows Claire as a young girl who begins her apprenticeship with Simon Masrani, and her close relationship with her family, which adds even more depth to her character's story and explains why she was so closed-minded in her appearance in the first Jurassic World film.
