Tokyo Revengers grows more and more exciting with each episode and chapter released. The story by Ken Wakui about the motorcycle gang Tokyo Manji or Touman is also peppered with science fiction such as time travel to change history led by Takemichi Hanagaki. Like in superhero stories, the main Protagonist needs a sidekick who adds to the fun, and in this case, he is named Chifuyu Matsuno.

1. Someone Who Knew Takemichi is Time Leaper

Time traveler or Time Leaper is something that Takemichi Hanagaki keeps very secret. The only people in 2017 who knew Takemichi Hanagaki had time-traveled were Naoto Tachibana and Atsushi Sendou or Akkun, although Akkun and Naoto in 2005 didn't know that Takemichi was a Time Leaper.

But in 2005, Chifuyu Matsuno was the first person to know that Takemichi is a time leaper. Even so, Chifuyu Matsuno keeps Takemichi's big secret and helps him carry out his plans to change the future of Tokyo Manji so that it doesn't turn into an evil organization that will kill Hinata Tachibana in the future.

2. Tokyo Manji’s First Division Vice-Captain

Tokyo Manji’s First Division was previously led by the founder of Touman, Baji Keisuke, who also made his assault squad. Baji Keisuke's betrayal and moving to the rival group, Valhalla, left the 1st division captain position vacant. The death of Baji Keisuke made Takemichi Hanagaki fill the position of Captain of the 1st Division, on the proposal of Chifuyu Matsuno.

According to Chifuyu Matsuno, Takemichi Hanagaki has the ability to replace Baji Keisuke. The recommendations from Chifuyu Matsuno allowed Takemichi to lead the first division and immediately appointed Chifuyu Matsuno to be his vice-captain so that they could fight together to raise the name of the Touman gang.

3. Unique Appearance

Chifuyu Matsuno is a young man of medium height with light blue eyes, fair skin, and has a piercing on his left ear. Uniquely dressed as a young boy, Chifuyu Matsuno styled his hair in a wavy undercut, with the top part dyed blonde and the sides naturally black. He is often seen wearing the uniform of the gang, but when Chifuyu Matsuno is not doing anything gang-related, he often wears a large white sweater, plain dark pants, and tennis shoes.

As an adult, Chifuyu Matsuno still rep the undercut hairstyle, but it was black and looked more presentable than when he was younger. When he met Takemichi Hanagaki in 2017, Chifuyu Matsuno wore a neatly striped suit.

4. A Loyal Friend 

Chifuyu Matsuno is a loyal friend who displays a calm and logical personality. He doesn’t want to leave his friends and refuses to betray those he considers close to him. He is willing to let his emotions take over when a situation calls for it. Chifuyu Matsuno never shy away from his desire to help others. Even if he was beaten for protecting a friend, he still persisted to be by that friend's side.

5. Takemichi’s Best Friend and Advisor

Takemichi Hanagaki's closest friend, Chifuyu Matsuno, usually acts as his strategic advisor and makes brilliant plans before acting. Highly intelligent strategists like Chifuyu Matsuno usually remain calm under high pressure situations that might even cost him his life.

Although Chifuyu Matsuno acts smart and level-headed, he is sometimes naive and doesn't always plan things carefully, which sometimes leads to unfavorable consequences for him or Takemichi Hanagaki.

6. Plays a Crucial Role in Tokyo Revengers

Chifuyu Matsuno is Takemichi Hanagaki’s strategist and advisor, making him an important character to the storyline. Like Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei, Chifuyu and Takemichi Hanagaki often fight together and Chifuyu always plans the best strategy before Takemichi carries out his mission to stop Tokyo Manji from turning into a crime syndicate in the future.

7. Admire and Respects Baji Keisuke

Aspiring to become a pilot, Chifuyu Matsuno also greatly admires and respects Baji Keisuke. Chifuyu calls the first division captain Baji-san. A spot near the stairs of the apartment where Chifuyu chatted until morning with Baji Keisuke became his favorite place because it gave memorable memories with the man.

His hatred for Kazutora didn’t lessen his respect for Baji Keisuke even though Kazutora was close to Baji.

8. Righteous

Chifuyu Matsuno is a righteous person who is willing to fight people who do wrong things even if those people have greater power. During his junior year in middle school, Chifuyu defies higher authorities who abuse their power.

His habit to fight higher authorities made Chifuyu famous for acting cold but also full of affection. Even though Chifuyu had the power, he never wanted to rule his school. He simply hated seeing students who looked down on other students, which was why Chifuyu hated the arrogant upperclassmen the most. Chifuyu also hated seeing a senior bullying the underclassmen.

9. Fear of Nostradamus and His Prophecies 

Chifuyu Matsuno, who is known to be brave, has something he is afraid of. He hates Nostradamus and his prophecies. This fortune teller from ancient France is famous for his predictions about scary disasters and often proves to be right.

For example, Nostradamus' predictions about the second world war that occurred because of the dictator of Nazi Germany named Hitler, predictions of the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which claimed many lives in Japan, to predictions about the tragedy of the World Trade Center or WTC on 11 September 2001. Chifuyu was often left sleepless at night because of Nostradamus’ prophecies.

10. Love Taking Care Pets

Chifuyu Matsuno turns out to have a caring nature, he really likes animals and takes care of them as pets. He has a pet cat named Peke J. Chifuyu's daily activity is waking up and bathing with Peke J and then playing with Peke J until noon. When he skipped school he went straight to Takemicchi-san's house, Takemichi Hanagaki's nickname from Chifuyu.

When Chifuyu started feeling hungry, he opened the refrigerator. There was Takemichi Hanagaki's Mille Crepes so he ate them without permission. Takemichi noticed him and challenged him to a duel. He was angry and crying after being defeated in a fighting game in an arcade game, so to cheer him up brought him a chocopa on the way home.

Chifuyu had a heroic moment when he fell from the second floor of his apartment complex while chasing Peke J, but Chifuyu was not injured at all.
