2. Two of the Voice Actors Sing the Theme Song for Hyouka

The voice actor of Chitanda Eru, Satomi Satou, and the voice actor of Satoshi Fukube, Daisuke Sakaguchi, sang the Update Go Issho ni and Itsuka Bokura no Epilogue on the Hyouka Net Radio Kotenbu no Kuttaku theme song CD.

3. Oreki Plays His Fringe Whenever He Thinks

If you pay close attention to character details, every time he thinks, Oreki has a habit of playing his fringe. This habit has been seen since the first episode where Oreki meets Chitanda in the Classic Literature Club. To be exact, it’s when Chitanda asks him to find out how she got locked in the room.

5. Mayaka Ibara Cosplays Characters from Other Anime Series

During the Kanya Festival in Episodes 13 - 14, Mayaka cosplays several characters from other anime series. She wears three different outfits, cosplaying as three different characters. These characters are Frolbericheri from They Were Eleven, Akko from Himitsu no Akko-chan, and Senri Mariko from Rainbow Parakeet.

Since he rarely gets outside to do his activities, Oreki tends to get motion sickness. As you can see in Episode 7 of Hyouka where Oreki and his friends are on a trip to Seizansou.

8. The Outfits of the Characters Reflect Their Respective Personalities

According to Episode Director Eisaku Kawanami, in Episode 4 of Hyouka, the studio tried to emphasize the personalities of the characters with the outfits that they were wearing. For example, Chitanda and Oreki wear traditional outfits to show their maturity, whereas Mayaka and Satoshi wear more casual outfits.

9. The Voice Actors of Satoshi and Oreki Were Involved in Another Project Prior to the Series

Before they crossed paths in Hyouka, Daisuke Sakaguchi (Satoshi’s voice actor) and Yuichi Nakamura (Oreki’s voice actor) were previously involved in another anime called Clannad as the voice actors of Tomoya and Youhei, who are also best friends like Oreki and Satoshi.

10. The Dish Eru Made at the Cooking Contest Was Giseyaki

In Episode 14, Chitanda, Satoshi and Mayaka take part in the cooking contest. When it’s Chitanda’s turn, she decides to make a Japanese traditional dish, much to the amazement of the commentator.
