Before its inception, Akira Toriyama was struggling when designing Kamehameha skill with his first issue being the right pose for the skill as he tried numerous poses to reflect the intended image of the skill.

In addition, he also asked his wife, Nachi Mikami for some inputs regarding the skill’s designs like the name, as she advised Akira that a name based on a Hawaiian king called Kamehameha would leave an impressive mark for the skill.

And yes, it turns out there was a real-life figure named Kamehameha.

Has Many Different Variations

In addition to the typical Kamehameha model, the skill has a lot of variations throughout the series with different models based on their movement and power level, with some of Goku’s Kamehameha being able to destroy the Earth almost effortlessly.

Even in his God mode or Super Saiyan mode, or when he fuses with Vegeta, Goku still relies on Kamehameha as his main weapon and develops several variations of it along the way.

Many Anime Have Kamehameha Reference

Kamehameha’s popularity as a skill is through the roof, something that the anime culture recognizes as many other titles also have some sort of reference to the skill like Gin Tama’s protagonist, Gintoki Sakata training the movement of it.
