Oshi No Ko: Facts
1. The Key Characters Die Early
Most anime have several key characters around whom the story revolves. Thus, most anime keep their main characters alive as long as possible, considering the fact that they’re one of the main attractions. However, in Oshi no Ko, the main character of the anime Ai Hoshino, dies really early in the story. Aside from that, Gorou Amemiya – another key character who plays an important role in the plot – also dies early. Thankfully, the main characters in this anime are reincarnated to continue their roles in the plot.
2. Has Two Main Characters
Most anime tend to have just one character who becomes the focal point of the series. But the same doesn’t go with Oshi no Ko, as this series has two main characters, Ai Hoshino’s twins, Aquamarine Hoshino and Ruby Hoshino. These characters play a role of the main characters, as both are driven by their vengeance over the death of their mother Ai Hoshino in their own ways.

There are lots the entertainer has to sacrifice and keep secret to maintain their image in the public’s eyes. Whether they like it or not, the entertainer has to “sell their soul” to earn the love of many.
5. The Plot Doesn’t Follow the Main Character’s Story
Just like the synopsis says, the main plot of the anime initially revolves around Ai Hoshino, an idol from the group B-Komachi who has massive followings due to her beauty and talent. But due to an incident, Ai ends up being killed, leaving her twins Aqua and Ruby. After her demise, Oshi no Ko no longer follows Ai’s life, but switches to a plot of how Aqua and Ruby expose the mastermind behind the murder of their mother and get their revenge in their own ways.
6. Based on a Hugely Popular Anime
As mentioned above, Oshi no Ko is an anime adaptation of a popular manga by Aka Akasaka, the creator of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. This is backed with the illustration, cover, songs, and graphics that make it seem like a family-friendly, slice-of-life, and wholesome series. But Oshi no Ko tricks fans with all of those, and even shocks fans with its true plot.
9. It Might Get Even Darker
During a live stream that celebrate the second volume of the manga, Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari admitted that they’d toned down the intensity of the plot for volume 3. If they were to stick with their original plan, they believed the story would get too sadistic.
10. Doga Kobo Works on the Anime Adaptation
Following the manga’s huge popularity on Weekly Young Jump, Doga Kobo agreed to work on an anime adaptation of Oshi no Ko. Doga Kobo is an anime studio that has worked on a long list of anime since the 1980s. It’s founded by Hideo Furusawa and Megumu Ishiguro, both former staff at Toei Animation.
