Soon Disney will present a classic animation film, Mulan, into live-action. The film is scheduled to be aired on March 25, 2020. Mulan now officially joins the list of classic Disney animation that has a live-action version, the list includes Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. The director of Mulan live-action is Niki Caro. Niki Caro has tons of indie films. The list includes Whale Rider, North Country, McFarland USA, and The Zookeeper’s Wife. Many are anticipating her work in a Disney adaptation film.

4. Played by a Chinese Actress, Liu Yifei

Liu Yifei or usually known as Crystal Liu is chosen to play Hua Mulan. The casting process takes a lot of time since the production team wants to cast a Chinese actress. During the process, the production team travels to five continents and meets more than 1.000 candidates before finding Liu Yifei.

Yifei is one of the popular actresses in China and also act in several soap operas and movies. She acts in films such as The Forbidden Kingdom alongside Jackie Chan in 2008 and Outcast alongside Nicholas Cage in 2014.

3. Donnie Yen and Jet Li

Another intriguing thing about Mulan’s live-action is the two famous actors, Donnie Yen and Jet Li. Donnie yen will play as Commander Tung, Commander Tung is the mentor of Mulan. Donnie Yen is no stranger to Disney movies.

Reportedly, Jet Li will play as the Emperor. The martial artist has appeared in Hollywood movies such as Lethal Weapon 4, Romeo Must Die, The Warlords, and The Expendables.

Although the film has a Chinese theme, the filming location is not in China. The filming happens in Ahuriri Valley, Omarama Clay Cliff, and Poolburn.
