Fairy Tail is an anime series that tells the story of Natsu Dragneel, a member of the Fairy Tail guild. 1. His Name Means “Summer”

For manga artists, coming up with the perfect name for the protagonist of their story is a very important part of creating the character. Usually, writers will often use a theme to think of a name. For example, in Dragon Ball, many of the characters are named after food. In Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima chose to use a name based on the season for the main character.

Natsu in Japanese means “summer”, and he also has the power of fire. Hiro Mashima also named the protagonist of the Rave Master manga, Haru, which means “spring”. The main character of the current Edens Zero manga is Shiki, which means four seasons. Natsu's name also fits his cheerful personality like a summer mood.

2. Can't Eat His Own Fire

Natsu becomes a Dragon Slayer who has many abilities. He could consume dragon magic whose magic the dragons had learned. Since Natsu is a Fire Dragon Slayer, he can eat the fire of other mages. Because of this ability, Natsu should also be able to make his own fire and eat it too, so he never runs out of energy.

4. Can't Control His Power Up

Natsu Dragneel is revived by his brother Zeref and transforms into a demon called "E.N.D." This means that Natsu is part human as well as part demon. Natsu is also a Dragon Slayer, and learning this type of magic definitely instills a dragon seed in every magic user.

6. Has a Dragon Inside Him

As you already know, Natsu Dragneel was born in the Dragon Age. Throughout the series, the whereabouts of Igneel, who is his adoptive parent, has been shrouded in mystery. One day, Igneel and the dragons responsible for training Natsu and the other Dragon Slayers suddenly disappeared. No one ever saw them again. But when Acnologia awakens to slay the many dragons flying through the Eclipse Gate, viewers learn more about Igneel's whereabouts.

He had actually fallen asleep inside Natsu, hiding his magic until he had a chance to fight Acnologia. However, while fighting Acnologia, Igneel fought valiantly and lost his life.

7. His Initial Design Consists of Horns

Before the Fairy Tail manga or anime was shown to the world, there were many character design changes made to Natsu Dragneel. This is a long creative process for the manga artist. In this day and age, a character's visuals are very important in how much popularity they can gain from fans.

For Natsu, the creator wanted him to have horns on his head. He actually has horns in the Fairy Tail short story, "Fairy Tale". Natsu is shown to be a spirit and has a pair of horns on his head. But after that, the creators scrapped the idea and gave it a more human appearance.

8. Natsu's Scarf is Special to Him

Natsu Dragneel's white scarf is the most iconic and striking part of her outfit. He wears his scarf every day, everywhere, no matter what the weather. The scarf is actually made from the scales of his adoptive parent, Igneel, which means it is immune to fire. So it makes sense that the scarf has a special place in Natsu's heart.

The scarf had protected him many times during Natsu's dangerous situation. He was able to absorb Zeref's death magic, but it made the scarf turn black. Since the scarf has absorbed dark magic, it becomes impossible for Natsu to heal his wounds.

9. He Can Come Back From Death

This fact is one of the biggest plot twists for fans in Fairy Tail. Natsu Dragneel died four hundred years ago in a Dragon attack that also killed his parents. However, his brother Zeref, overcome with grief, can't give up trying to revive Natsu. Zeref learned all kinds of ways to do it.

This made the Gods angry and Zeref tried to fight them. Zeref becomes affected by the Curse of Contradiction, which causes him to kill anything he cares about. But this still doesn't stop him from bringing Natsu back to life. Natsu is revived as "Etherious Natsu Dragneel" (E.N.D.), a demon equipped with the power to kill him as well.

10. His Ultimate Weakness is Motion Sickness

Natsu Dragneel gets motion sickness very easily, considering he was trained by dragons. Initially Hiro Mashima only planned to use this fact as a comedy element and give Natsu's character a weakness. However, then it becomes the point of the storyline, because all Dragon Slayers are prone to this and often get motion sickness on the road.

At the end of the Fairy Tail series, we find out this happened because of Dragon Slayer's magic itself. The weakness was due to the synchronization that occurred between the human ear and the dragon's superior vision.
