1. The Most Heartless Characters
Tokyo Revengers fans must already be aware of the Haitani brothers’ combat prowess. It’s no secret that Ran and Rindou are cruel and ruthless characters as they actually enjoy gory scenes. Ran and Rindou both relish torturing their opponents and making them scream while they hit them.
2. They Were Former Members of the S-62 Generation
The S-62 Generation was an exclusive group of six teenagers born in 1987 known for their acts of violence. This group was led by Izana Kurokawa. This group consisted of Izana, Yasuhiro Muto, Kanji Mochizuki, Ran Haitani, Rindou Haitani, and Shion Madarame. The group was formed when Izana Kurokawa recruited other fighters his age when he was at the juvenile detention center, then he established an exclusive group called the S-62 Generation.
With Izana as the leader, the group committed several heinous crimes, including robberies, assaults, drug trafficking, and formed their own gangs to strengthen their connections and expand their means of acquiring assets. However, this gang was disbanded later on during the fight against the Tokyo Manji, which ended up with Izana’s death.
3. Founder and Executive of Tenjiku
This gang was a Kanagawa’s largest delinquent group based in Yokohama. This group was led and founded by Izana Kurokawa with the help of Tetta Kisaki and the S-62 Generation to get revenge on Manjiro Sano and take over the Tokyo Manji. After Izana’s demise and S-62’s arrests, Tenjiku declared its defeat and disbandment.
4. First Make Their Appearances in the Bloody Halloween
The Bloody Halloween is one of the biggest battles in Tokyo Revengers. The mass fight involved the Tokyo Manji and Valhalla, where Toman was outnumbered by 150 to 300 Valhalla members. The Bloody Halloween also resulted in the death of one of the Tokyo Manji founders, Baji Keisuke, and almost tore Toman apart. The Haitani Brothers were two of the spectators in the fight.

5. Interesting Meanings Behind Their Names
Regardless of their brutal and sadistic nature, the Haitani Brothers have beautiful names. Ran means "orchid" (蘭), whereas Rindou means “bellflower” (竜胆). Both names are flower-based and both represent purple flowers. While their surname means “ash” (灰) (hai) and “valley” (谷) (tani).
6. Always Commit Their Acts Alongside Each Other
The brothers are inseparable. Throughout the entire Tokyo Revengers series, they are always together and act as a unit in fights. Some even stated that both of them can rally up 100 people with just 1 shout. The Haitani Brothers are also known as charismatic duo.
7. Both are Cunning Fighters
The brutal brothers are infamous for their trickery. They do not hesitate from resorting to all kinds of means to defeat their opponents. Ran doesn’t hesitate to use weapons to save time in fights. For example, when Tenjiku were invading Toman’s area, Ran had no problem using a concrete block to hit Mitsuya from behind to make him faint. The Haitani Brothers tend to “cut corners” to defeat their opponents instead of taking them on 1-on-1.
8. They Used to Rule Roppongi
When the Haitani Brothers were 13, the leader and vice leader Roppongi Kyougoku, the biggest group in Tokyo at the time had a one-on-one fight with the Haitani Brothers. The fight was called "Roppongi Battle of the Ashes". Ran and his brother easily defeated the leader and then Rindou chased down the rest and finished off the vice leader. Rindou locked the vice leader’s limbs while Ran threw punches to his face. The vice leader was severely injured and died not long after.
After the incident, the Haitani Brothers took over the entire district of Roppongi without any team. They eventually got arrested and put in a juvenile detention center for their crimes, where they met with the rest of the S-62 Generation.
9. They Used to Run with Different Gangs
Throughout the Haitani Brothers’ journey in Tokyo Revengers, both of them used to be members of the 3 major gangs: Bonten, which was led by Mikey before Takemichi altered the timeline; Tenjiku, which was led by Izana Kurokawa before it was disbanded after the defeat against Toman; and Rokuhara Tandai, led by South Terano who was killed by Mikey after the defeat in the Battle of Three Deities. Rokuhara Tandai was ultimately disbanded and many of its members were recruited by the Kanto Manji Gang, including the Haitani Brothers.
10. Mitsuya Admires the Haitani Brothers
In Chapter 248 of Tokyo Revenger, you’ll learn that Mitsuya admires the Haitani Brothers. When Mitsuya was 13 and attending the Azabu Festival, he met the charismatic Haitani Brothers who ruled Roppongi at the time. Back then, he was instantly captivated by Ran and Rindou’s magnetism.
