Rumbling is a disastrous event that involves thousands of Wall Titans on Paradis Island, flattening the entire world with the power of the Wall Titans.
As most fans already know, Eren possesses the power of the Founding Titan, and he has the ability to control thousands of the Wall Titans, which triggered when he first came into contact with Zeke Yeager.
There are some fascinating facts about Rumbling in Attack on Titan that you probably didn’t know. On this occasion, Dunia Games would like to give you some facts about Rumbling. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
Attack on Titan: Rumbling Facts
1. It Takes the Founding Titan’s Power to Control the Wall Titans
This fact is rather more obvious for most fans. Rumbling is often associated with natural disasters, but what is Rumbling exactly? Rumbling is a term that is used to describe the sound of the footsteps of millions of Colossal Titans marching across the world.
The three walls on Paradis Island: Maria, Rose, and Sina are composed of millions of Colossal Titans, and the Founding Titan can use its power to release and control these Wall Titans to cause Rumbling.
2. The Founding Titan is the Only One Who Can Activate It
Ymir Fritz was the first person to ever use the full power of the Founding Titan. Because of her, the Nine Titans emerged with the Founding Titan at the helm. Because the Founding Titan is a pure Titan, it has the power to create New Titans and control them.
Being the only Titan with such an ability, the Founding Titan was only passed down to successors of the kings and queens so that they would share King Fritz's ideology of vowing never to go to war again. Eren, who is not of noble descent, is able to avoid this ideology.
Additionally, only the Founding Titan can activate Rumbling, which allows the user to control millions of Colossal Titans with abilities including Titan control, Titan creation, and memory manipulation.
3. Willy Tybur's Speech Encouraged Eren to Start the Rumbling
Eren Yeager did not decide to start Rumbling because he knew it would result in the death of millions of people. When listening to Willy Tybur's speech in Marley at a celebration honoring the Great Titan War, Willy spouts lies about Eldia, the Titans, and Marley.
As Willy Tybur spoke, Eren suddenly had an epiphany. He understood that as long as humanity had a deep fear of the Eldians, they would not be able to completely break free.
Eren reasons that eliminating all potential threats to Eldia's survival requires using Rumbling and destroying all hostile nations.
4. King Fritz Triggered Rumbling to Threat Marley
During his reign, King Karl Fritz took most of the Eldians to Paradis Island. Karl Fritz created millions of Colossal Titans after moving and used them to build walls around the island. He then threatened to release millions of Colossal Titans against all countries.
However, Karl Fritz had absolutely no intention of doing that as he knew the Eldians deserved the punishment. This was done to prevent anyone from bothering Eldia.
5. The Anime Episode in Which Eren Starts the Rumbling
Most Attack on Titan fans probably didn't know the specific episode and chapter of the manga where Rumbling begins. Not long after the flashback of Eren's trip and the other members of the Survey Corps to Marley in chapter 122 of the manga, the Rumbling begins.
The Eldians and the people living on Paradis Island experienced endless discrimination. Eren left the rest of the Survey Corps and started Rumbling in episode 88 of the anime.
6. Rumbling Kills 80% of the World's Population
Rumbling is a cataclysmic event that can also be said to be the end of the world. However, some viewers may not know how grisly it is. After Rumbling started, the Marleyan troops and several members of the Survey Corps joined forces to stop Eren. After much difficulty, they were eventually able to stop Eren Yeager within days of Rumbling.
Eren's attack claimed millions of casualties, and resulted in the loss of 80% of the world's population. If he's not stopped, it'd probably wipe out all life on Earth except for the people on Paradis Island.
7. The End of the Titan Powers
As mentioned above, the Founding Titan has the ability to control all other Titans, manipulate memories, and start the Rumbling.
Rumbling is a catastrophic event that involves an army of Colossal Titans marching across the world, trampling everything in their path. Eren Yeager did so in an attempt to protect his comrades by annihilating all of the opposing nations.
However, Rumbling also causes the end of the Titan powers as all Titans that were not part of Rumbling are also destroyed. This means that no one can become a Titan anymore, effectively ending the cycle of oppression due to centuries of Titan's dominance.
