1. The First Person To Escape Impel Down

Impel Down is known as a prison that is very strict and cruel like hell. Before the incident of Luffy and other prisoners escaping from Impel Down, previously, a prisoner managed to escape from Impel Down alone. He was Shiki who was being held captive on the 6th floor.

Shiki ran away after cutting off his own two legs. How can he escape? He escaped with his devil fruit ability. It allowed him to float so that he could escape easily enough after dodging the various threats he encountered. Shiki made history as the first person to escape from Impel Down.

2. His Devil Fruit

Shiki ate the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi fruit, a Paramecia-type devil fruit that allows him to levitate anything. Shiki states that once he makes something float, it will stay that way until he stops doing so.

He has performed several stunts to make several ships and even a large island float. Shiki seems to have mastered the use of this fruit, as he has demonstrated various skills manipulating surrounding objects in elaborate ways. He can also manipulate the simplest components, such as earth fragments and even snowflakes.

3. The Rival of Roger

In the past, Shiki fought against Roger several times. Since then, he began to consider Roger as his rival. Their fights always seemed to end in a draw, just like Roger's fight against Garp or Whitebeard.

After hearing the news of Roger's impending execution, Shiki attempted to kill Roger with his own hands out of respect for his rival. Shiki believed that dying at the hands of the Marines would make Roger feel dishonorable.

4. The Main Villain in the Strong World Movie

In the One Piece canon, Shiki has never been seen except in the story that explains that he managed to escape from Impel Down. In addition, he only appears in the Strong World movie as the main antagonist.

Shiki in this movie looks bald, different from 20 years ago when his yellow hair was still long. He is also seen replacing his missing legs with two swords. Like most important characters in One Piece, Shiki also has a distinctive laughing style, namely "ji ha ha ha ha".

5. Once Fought Against Garp and Sengoku

Shiki, who learned the news that Roger died at the hands of the Marines, became furious and carried out a massive attack on the Marines. He wanted revenge for Roger's death which he considered dishonorable. Shiki did this because Roger was a rival he respected the most.

That's when Garp and Sengoku step in to face this mad pirate. Shiki was defeated before being thrown into Impel Down. Garp also explained that Shiki was not someone who can receive peace for a long time until he accepted the fact that Roger was killed by the Marines.

6. A Former Rock’s Crew

Shiki's next fact is that he was once a crew member of the pirate who once shocked the world, Rocks D. Xebec. Rocks himself once had a goal to become King of the World. His ambition was stopped by Roger who worked with Garp. After that, the Rocks Pirates were disbanded.

Besides Shiki, several famous pirates have also been in the Rocks crew. Some of them are Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, Captain John, and Silver Ax. Reportedly, Shiki also became a Yonkou in the Roger era.

7. A Good Friends with Crocus?

On the One Piece manga chapter 631 cover, it can be seen that Crocus is talking to someone very similar to Shiki from behind. Many fans believe that he is Shiki. They look familiar and drink sake together.

It's still a mystery why Shiki met Crocus in the Laboon’s stomach. Could it be that Shiki is still looking for information about Roger? Or maybe it wasn't Shiki, but someone else who happened to have the same appearance as him. What do you think?
