Every shounen anime has an iconic antagonist. Tite Kubo's Bleach has the intimidating Sosuke Aizen. The character, who initially represents himself as a warm and loving character, turns out to be the mastermind behind the chaos in the Soul Society.
Here are some fascinating facts about Sosuke Aizen from Bleach that you probably didn't know. Without further ado, let's get into it.
1. A Kido Master
Aizen arguably has no weaknesses in battle. He's a highly skilled swordsman, and is also a strategist who finds the best and most efficient ways to victory.
Aizen is also a Kido master. He can cast high-level Kido without incantation — which is unusual. He can also even perform the deadly Kurohitsugi without incantation.
He managed to take Komamura down with just one hit.
2. A Manipulator
is adept at manipulating others for his advantage, with or without his shikai powers. Over the years, Aizen deftly fooled then-Captain Shinji into thinking that everything was fine in the world, while strangers had replaced Aizen so the real Aizen could experiment in secret.
Aizen also ruthlessly fooled Momo into thinking he was a benevolent Captain.
3. His Shikai
No one can reach the rank of Captain without a shikai, and Aizen's shikai, Kyoga Suigetsu, is certainly an extraordinary one. Once he draws and shows it to someone, he creates a perfect illusion. The victim will see, hear, taste, and smell whatever Aizen chooses for them to sense, and they may spend years under this perfect hypnosis.
4. An Expert in Calligraphy
This fact may rarely be shown, but Aizen is a master of Japanese calligraphy. Aizen has free time like anyone else, and during his Soul Society days, he composes beautiful poems with his brush.
5. One of the Strongest Captains
Yamamoto is arguably the most powerful of the Captains, but Sosuke Aizen is quite close to match his level. This stems from his combat prowess, his adept kido, illusions, and knowledge of Soul Reaper lore.
In the final battle, Aizen was able to take on several Lieutenants, Captains, and visors at once, and still had the upper hand. No other Captain except Yamamoto could fight like that.
6. Has a God Complex
Aizen is one of the characters in anime who has a god complex syndrome. Throughout the series, he claims that only he can stand in heaven and become what the gods want him to be. His ultimate plan was to overthrow the Soul King and take his place in the Royal Realm.
In the Deicide arc, Aizen also shows that his power is almost on par with a god. Although he is eventually stopped by Ichigo, Aizen has proven immortal thanks to the changes in the arc, which exemplify that he does have a god complex.
7. Cold Towards His Subordinates
This one is probably a widely-known fact of Sosuke Aizen. Aizen, due to his god complex, believes that every action he takes is the right one, even if it is at the expense of his subordinates.
Aizen claims to care a lot about the ten Espada and puts his trust in them, but it's just a facade.
He didn't even care in the slightest whenever one of them died in battle and he even hit Harribel when she failed to live up to his expectations. In the end, Aizen began to act indifferent to the Espada and chose to do everything by himself.
8. His Hopefulness
Despite all of his crimes, Sosuke Aizen surprisingly believes in the power of hope. He had hope that he could become a god and make the world complete. His belief in hope puts at odds with Yhwach.
Unlike Aizen, Yhwach wants to combine life and death into a single entity, to create a world where no one has to be afraid of death. Aizen believes that fighting death and fighting for something will give people hope and goals. In Aizen's eyes, death is something that is necessary to give meaning to life.
9. Served an Incredibly Long Sentence
A traitor can't get away with their crimes easily. Aizen has become hostile towards Soul Society, the Visored, and the Kurosaki family. After Aizen lost the battle, he was taken to Central 46 and sentenced to 18800 years in Muken, the prison under the Central 46 building.
Aizen insulted them, so they kept his mouth shut and increased his sentence to 20000 years before sealing him off
