1. Isn’t as Big of a Wannabe-Womanizer in the Manga

In the anime series, we’ve learned that Zenitsu is a stalker and often makes girls he flirts with annoyed as he doesn’t seem to be aware of the concept of personal space. However, in the manga, Zenitsu is depicted as a rather normal character who doesn’t always flirt with women.

His wannabe-womanizer nature perhaps added as a running joke as most shounen anime series often have these characters.

2. Has Exceptional Hearing

Much like Tanjiro’s high sense of smell, Zenitsu also possesses an impeccable sense of hearing. Not just towards humans, but he can also hear movements of demons and animals from afar, even listening to others’ thoughts if he focuses hard enough.

This helps him to pinpoint demons’ locations. Another lesser-known fact about him is that due to his amazing hearing, he excels at playing stringed instruments like the koto and shamisen.

3. He’s at the Same Level as Hashiras

Hashira is a highly-respected Demon Slayer due to his breathing style and combat prowess. Zenitsu is one of the few non-Hashira Demon Slayers who can match the feats of the Hashiras, including creating his own breathing form and beating a demon who’s way stronger than him.

Zenitsu is a Thunder Breathing Style user, despite failing to master all of the forms. However, Zenitsu is highly proficient in using the first form, he even managed to create several variations and modifications to it.

As mentioned above, Zenitsu created his own breathing form called Seventh Form: Honoikazuchi no Kami. With this technique, Zenitsu can summon a dragon that breathes fire and thunder, gain increased strength, all of which definitely help him to defeat powerful demons.

As you may already know, Zenitsu has a unique way of combat. Each time he faces a dangerous situation, he often faints due to panic attacks. While being unconscious, his subconscious takes over, turning him into a formidable fighter.

Zenitsu’s sensei is Jigoro Kuwajima. He’s the stern but kind old man who taught Zenitsu to become a Demon Slayer. He idolized and respected Jigoro, and the feelings that he had for his teacher are what helped Zenitsu overcome his fears.

8. He Can Be a Coward Sometimes

From his early appearance, Zenitsu is shown as a wimp who doubts his own capabilities. Even after learning the Thunder Breathing techniques and becoming part of the Demon Slayer Corps, Zenitsu still has fears whenever he deals with Demons, often time having problems mustering up the courage and deciding to hide or run away from them.

Usually, Zenitsu would hide and ask his friends for help, including Tanjiro. And most of the time, Zenitsu would get so scared that he passes out when facing a demon.

9. He Struggles with Self-Doubt

Despite having extraordinary abilities, Zenitsu often doubts his own capabilities. Even after becoming a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, he was bewildered as to how he managed to pass the exam. 

Zenitsu often runs away from Demons and is constantly thinking of leaving his role as a Demon Slayer since he believes it’s too much to bear for someone like him.

Since his first encounter with Nezuko, Zenitsu has always had feelings for her. Zenitsu even blatantly asked Tanjiro for his blessing and let him marry her.

Even after knowing that Nezuko is actually a Demon, he was still kind to her and protected her from anyone who tries to attack her.

He would attack anyone who tries to kill Nezuko without a doubt. This shows that Zenitsu does have strong feelings for Nezuko — always tries his best to protect Nezuko from threats.

13. Always Protects Those Closest to Him

Zenitsu has a tendency of helping others, even when he’s unable to fight. Zenitsu is often shown protecting Nezuko when he’s being attacked himself.

Zenitsu actually hates himself for being a coward and tries his best to get rid of it. Yet whenever he sees others in danger, he instantly gains the courage to protect them even at his own expense.

14. Possesses Immense Speed

Zenitsu is one of the Demon Slayers who possess incredible speed. He can move faster than the eyes can see. Even earlier in the series when he’s at his weakest, he’s able to dodge the attacks of several Demons, like the Tongue Demon and Spider Demon (Son) by relying on his speed.

In the Mugen Train arc, Zenitsu was able to save Nezuko from Enmu and attacked him before he could react.

Over time, his speed has improved to the point that his movements couldn’t be perceived by Upper-Rank Demons like Daki and Kaigaku. Zenitsu can launch attacks before his target is aware of his presence.

15. Possesses a Strong Will

Zenitsu has a strong will and the spirit to kill Demons. He showed these traits when his unconscious self was fighting Daki. He had the willpower to keep on fighting despite all of the injuries he sustained — including broken feet.

With his sheer willpower and rage, Zenitsu was able to overcome his cowardice and stay on his feet against the Demon.
