JAKARTA, July 22, 2025FIFAe World Cup 2025 is officially back, featuring the best eFootball™ players from around the world on both mobile and console platforms. This global football esports tournament will be held in December 2025 in Saudi Arabia as part of the FIFAe 2025 Finals and is expected to welcome more participating countries than ever before.

KONAMI and FIFA Extend Esports Partnership Through 2026

FIFA and Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI) have extended their strategic collaboration to further develop the global football esports ecosystem. The announcement was made during the eFootball World Festival in Tokyo, which also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the eFootball™ series.

"Last year, over 14 million eFootball™ players competed online, and the finals reached 400,000 concurrent viewers. This year, we’re expanding the scale and reaching even more communities," said Makoto Igarashi, General Manager of eFootball™ Production.

Christian Volk, Director of eFootball and Gaming at FIFA, emphasized that the extended partnership highlights FIFA’s commitment to making esports accessible to football communities worldwide.

Open Qualifications and FIFPRO Support

This year’s FIFAe World Cup™ will feature an open qualification format running for several months, with local and regional activations. This new structure allows more FIFA member associations to take part and builds a sustainable, truly global competition ecosystem.

With support from FIFPRO, the number of clubs and players available in the competition will also increase, ensuring wider representation across regions.

Global Support from Football Federations

Several national football federations, including JFA (Japan), FAM (Malaysia), and AFA (Argentina), have voiced their full support for the tournament. Malaysia, last year’s mobile champion, and Indonesia, the console champion, are expected to defend their titles this year.

Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, President of JFA, described the FIFAe World Cup™ as the pinnacle of eFootball™, where players compete with passion and dreams. He affirmed JFA’s full support for the Japanese national eFootball team on the global stage.

Full details regarding the tournament schedule, registration process, and broadcasts will be available soon on the official eFootball website and FIFA.GG.
