Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) animated series titled Marvel What If..? has released its first trailer, showing its loyal fans an alternate timeline where the MCU characters are told in very different ways and versions. For example, Peggy Carter who replaced Steve Rogers as Captain Carter during World War II with a costume bearing the British Union Jack flag and the shield of justice. Peggy Carter seemed to fight alongside Howard Stark, the father of Tony Stark, who became Iron Man Mark 1 with a more classic design.

Why is Steve Rogers not Captain America in Marvel What If..?? Marvel What If..? trailer shows that Steve has become a zombie or called Colonel America in the comic book, Hawkeye is also seen as a zombie with many arrows stuck in his body as seen in the Marvel What If...? poster.

Tony Stark himself didn’t become Iron Man in Marvel What If..?, because when he was supposed to be kidnapped by the militia while he was in Afghanistan, Erik Killmonger actually helped him and made Tony not lose his heart as the reason he became Iron Man. Erik Killmonger also becomes the king of Wakanda in Marvel What If..?, causing Shuri to rebel.

What about T'Challa? Because he didn't become the king of Wakanda in Marvel What If..? So he became Star-Lord because he was kidnapped and raised by Yondu from a young age. Dr. Strange also appears in Marvel What If..? and is seen as an evil character alias antagonist with his forbidden magic. Loki, who was entrusted by Odin to be the king of Asgard, seems to lead his army to Wakanda, making Thor become the Thor Party who beats Ultron.

The concept of the Multiverse is becoming increasingly important in MCU Phase 4. As shown in Loki, the timeline is naturally chaotic and every moment has the potential to create a new branch of timeline, it is also emphasized that multiverse variants can be very different from the characters we know so far. That's what the animated anthology Marvel What If ..? is about. Its coming to Disney+ Hotstar on 11 August 2021.
