Horror movies are one of the most popular genres. Besides presenting a tense storyline every minute, horror movies are sometimes able to bring various wild and new ideas so that the story is always fresh to enjoy. If executed well, horror movies will be the perfect kind of thing to accompany your free time.
One of the interesting ideas is about the background of the medieval era. So far, there are several horror movies that take the background of the medieval era with the best execution. Curious what the list of horror films that take the background of the best medieval era? This is the full review.
1. Black Death
When word gets out that an astrologer is bringing back plague victims from the dead, Sir Ulric and his army must travel through the swamps to investigate the rumours. They go together with a young monk, who has his own mysterious reasons for going on a perilous journey, and encountering all manner of demons, and terrible things.
This medieval horror movie has a great idea and execution. In the midst of a world similar to The Lord of The Rings, the audience is presented with an extraordinary horror like a modern horror movie.
2. Dracula Untold
The origin story of the iconic Dark Lord is once lifted into the story of Dracula Untold, when young Vlad the Impaler must decide how best to serve his country and family. When the Sultan of Turkey demanded that he fight, required his son to fight alongside a thousand others, and he made a pact with a cave-dwelling creature that would give him the strength of ten soldiers.
While the movie shows Vlad as a tragic hero and a victim of circumstances, there is still a lot of horror in this movie, especially about Charles Dance.
3. The Head Hunter
There is nothing worse than losing a princess to a terrible monster. That's what makes the hero in this movie hunt for monsters. He bulldozed a lot of monsters and brought home his head, unfortunately from his hunt, none of the monsters killed his daughter.
The Head Hunter leaves much to the viewer's imagination, but his lack of visuals makes him underestimated despite the fact that the characters and atmosphere present an incredible amount of horror. The creature he killed also had an extraordinary impression than just a lump of flesh being the target of assassination.

4. The Reckoning
Even though her husband catches the Black Death plague, a young woman is still accused of being a witch and turned over to Britain's famed witch hunter, Judge Moorcroft for punishment. From the first scene, this movie presents something really scary in it.
By taking the medieval theme, the audience is really made tense throughout the movie. The Reckoning has the emotional depth that is its main selling point.
5. Season of the Witch
At the order of a dying man, two armies must take a sorcerer to a faraway monastery, where the monks will supposedly destroy the darkness that lurks within him and ultimately end the ravaging black plague.
Their journey is not as simple as it seems. There are many dire challenges to be faced. The cool thing is, even though this movie presents extraordinary horror, the dialogue that is appointed is very diverse and intelligent to make it not boring.
