Following the success of the film DreadOut which was released in 2019, Lyto Pictures presents Pamali, a horror film adapted from the game released by StoryTale Studio entitled Pamali: Indonesian Folklore Horror which was released in 2018. With the tagline “Violating Tradition, Inviting Disaster”, Pamali warned all of us not to underestimate tradition. Pamali film will soon be released in theaters on October 6, 2022.

The story begins with a husband and wife who live in an old house on the outskirts of the city. In some scenes, many pamali are violated such as pregnant women cutting nails at night, cutting hair, and family feuds. It is said that actions that violate customs and traditions are believed to bring unwanted things, such as the conflict footage in the Pamali trailer.

“In the Pamali film, we raised a ban that some people already know (pregnant women are prohibited from cutting their nails and cutting their hair at night) as an example to make it easier to understand the consequences that arise from violating existing prohibitions or warnings.” Said Andi Suryanto as the producer of the Pamali film and the CEO of LYTO Pictures at the Press Screening Film Pamali event, Friday (30/9).

He also added that Indonesia has many cultures, traditional traditions, and beliefs. Not necessarily the customs that exist in Java are the same as the customs that are out there. So that the audience is encouraged to be more aware of and respect local beliefs.

Pamali's film highlights the values of traditions and customs that may have been abandoned by urban society. Through this film, we are invited to appreciate the beliefs and prohibitions or warnings of others so as not to invite disasters that harm ourselves.

Not being picky, Andi Suryanto appointed Bobby Prasetyo, who was nominated as a young director at the 2019 Maya Cup as the director of the film Pamali.

“Bringing game characters to film was a new challenge for me. One of them is how to make the audience connect with pamali stories and the elements of tradition that are told. So that the actors become the main key of this film. With the right cast selection, the actors managed to express their respective roles very well.” Close Bobby Prasetyo.
