Indonesia is indeed known for its legendary horror films. It's no surprise, then, that Indonesia is one of the countries famous for its horror films, including Pocong, Kuntilanak, Sundel Bolong, and other terrifying ghosts. Moving on from there, LYTO Pictures presents a film series based on the horror game Pamali.

In 2025, LYTO Pictures presents Pamali: Tumbal, the third installment in the Pamali Universe film timeline, which has already garnered success from the previous two films. Pamali: Tumbal stars a diverse cast of renowned actors and actresses, including Keisya Levronka, Fajar Nugra, Ummi Quary, Verdi Sulaeman, Nai Djenar Maesa Ayu, Dominique Sanda, Krishna Keitaro, and Ben Bening. The film is directed by Bobby Prasetyo, written by Evelyn Afnilia, and produced by Andi Suryanto and Marcella Daryanani.

Pamali: Tumbal Synopsis

Pamali: Tumbal tells the story of Putri, played by Keisya Levronka, who searches for her mother after she mysteriously disappears after picking up "Tumbal Money" on the street due to financial difficulties. Together with her two best friends, Kiki, played by Ummi Quary, and Cecep, played by Fajar Nugra, Putri's search for the truth leads them into a haunted forest, an old factory, and a mysterious house inhabited by tuyul (a ghost ghost), black kuntilanak (a ghost ghost), and other terrifying creatures.

The cast and crew shared their experiences during the production process, the challenges they faced in creating an authentic horror atmosphere, and the message they hoped to convey through the film. First, Director Bobby Prasetyo stated that the presence of the tuyul was a key factor in the film's creation.

"A frequent topic of discussion at the beginning of making this film was what taboos would be depicted and how to design a terrifying tuyul, one that differed from existing depictions," said Bobby Prasetyo. "After lengthy discussions and research, we finally arrived at the current form of the tuyul. The terror of the tuyul combined with the black kuntilanak creates a ghostly duo that we hope will bring a new dynamic to horror in Indonesia," he said.

As the actress starring in Pamali: Tumbal, Keisya Levronka stated that being involved in making this film was a challenge in itself. Keisya's portrayal of Putri was quite challenging, physically and emotionally draining, and there were some interesting scenes that became memorable for her.

"Playing in Pamali: Tumbal was a challenge in itself, but the process of developing Putri's character was very enjoyable. Many scenes challenged me as an actress, both physically and emotionally. One scene, the fight with the tuyul in the pool, involved multiple retakes. It was truly an exciting and valuable experience," said Keisya.

Furthermore, Ummi Quary shared her experience playing the role in Pamali: Tumbal. Pamali: Tumbal is Ummi Quary's first horror film, and playing the role of Kiki was quite draining. She stated that it was like riding a roller coaster.

"This is also my first horror film and the first time I've shared the screen with Keisya and Fajar. It was quite energy-intensive the first time I did my own stunts, but because the entire cast was supportive and Uncle Bob (Bobby Prasetyo) was very open to character discussions, the process felt easy," Ummi said. "From start to finish, playing the character of Kiki felt like a roller coaster. There were funny moments, scary moments, and daring moments, so the surprises were non-stop," she added.

Pamali: Tumbal also marked the acting debut of renowned YouTuber Aldean Tegar "DeanKT" Gemilang. DeanKT's role in Pamali: Tumbal wasn't just a cameo, but also a significant supporting role. DeanKT's participation demonstrates LYTO Pictures' commitment to integrating the gaming and film industries and expanding Indonesia's entertainment ecosystem.

Pamali: Tumbal itself is an adaptation of the game Pamali: The Little Devil, created by the game studio Storytale.

"At first, I never imagined a game could become a film. Pamali: Tumbal is Storytale's umpteenth collaboration with LYTO Pictures. It's a pleasure to introduce ghosts and Indonesia's diverse culture to the world through various mediums," said Arya Hamdani, co-founder of Storytale.

Finally, Andi Suryanto, Producer of Pamali: Tumbal and CEO of LYTO Pictures, stated that by watching Pamali: Tumbal, audiences will experience a tense horror film. Through Pamali: Tumbal, he also hopes to encourage people to uphold local traditions and culture.

"Pamali: Tumbal is a film adapted from the Indonesian game Pamali: The Little Devil. Audiences will experience a tense horror film, close to everyday life, especially regarding taboos regarding photos of three people, talking carelessly, and going out after Maghrib. Pamali: Tumbal is expected to remind people of local traditions and culture," explained Andi Suryanto.

"Hopefully, Pamali: Tumbal will receive a positive reception in theaters," he concluded.
