The first part of the Haikyuu!! FINAL movie has now started screening in Japanese cinemas. This film, entitled Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, is the first film in the two-part project of the final sequel to the anime series adapted from the work of Haruichi Furudate of the same name. The film, which has been showing since February 16 in Japan, has currently managed to sell 1.52 million tickets and earned around JP¥2.23 billion (Rp232 billion) in three days in its first weekend on February 16-18 until it succeeded in achieving this success.

This makes the first part of Haikyuu!! FINAL to become no. 1  in Japan's weekend box office rankings thanks to this achievement. The film's first-weekend gross was the highest among films released in Japan in 2024, surpassing the previous record of 1.065 billion yen achieved by Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM on the weekend of January 26–28.

This anime film even received a very positive response, as evidenced by its ranking no. 1 in Filmarks' first-day satisfaction rankings with an average rating of 4.40/5.0 based on 5,049 reviews.

The TV anime series Haikyuuu!! aired for four seasons from 2014 to 2020, with this film depicting the fateful battle between Karasuno and Nekoma. Anime Haikyuu!! is an adaptation of Haruichi Furudate's 2011 manga, and ended the series in July 2020. Shueisha published the manga's 45th and final volume in November 2020.

Meanwhile, the television anime adaptation was first produced by Production IG and premiered in April 2014. The second season of the anime aired in October 2015, and the third season aired in October 2016. The first half of Haikyu!! To The Top, which is the fourth season of the anime, premiered in January 2020. The second half of the fourth season aired in October 2020.
