KOEI Tecmo Games announced on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, that it will end service for the game Dynasty Warriors Online Z for PlayStation 4 on February 24, 2022. KOEI Tecmo Games will cease issuing the in-game currency on January 20, 2022, and will start accepting refund applications for unused currency on February 24, 2022.

Dynasty Warriors Online (Shin Sangoku Musou Online) was launched in Japan for PC in November 2007. It was then released for PlayStation 3 in February 2010, PlayStation Vita in 2015, and PS4 in 2014. The game was launched in western countries in November 2010, but KOEI Tecmo Games ended its service in January 2014.

The Japanese version of Dynasty Warriors Online was renamed Dynasty Warriors Online Z in an update in July 2013. The PS4 release is the only version of the game that is currently in service.

Dynasty Warriors 9 (Shin Sangoku Musou 8), the latest title in the series, was launched in February 2018. This series has numerous spinoffs, including the Samurai Warriors series. KOEI Tecmo Games is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Dynasty Warriors franchise this year.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires (Shin Sangoku Musou 8 Empires) will be released in Japan on December 23, 2021. The game will launch in North America and Europe on February 15, 2022.
