Square Enix announced that they will be releasing a Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster version of Final Fantasy VI for PC via Steam and mobile devices in February 2022. Square Enix stated that they are giving the game developer the time needed to polish the game while completing development. 

Square Enix added five soundtrack songs and wallpapers for people who pre-order the game.

Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, and Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster games launch on July 28, 2021. Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster launches on September 8, 2021. Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster launches on November 10, 2021.

Square Enix released the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster game series for Steam and mobile devices. The series includes 2D remasters for Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy VI. Square Enix releases each of its game titles individually or as part of a bundle.

The original Final Fantasy VI game was released for the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) console in Japan in 1994. Since then, the game has been released on PlayStation, Game Boy Advance, smartphones, and PC.
