Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy is a direct sequel to Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, and continues the story of Reisalin Ryza Stout three years after her first adventure. Released by Gust and Koei Tecmo, the game brings players back to the world of alchemy with expanded gameplay, developed characters, and a more emotional story.

One of the most striking improvements is world exploration. Unlike its predecessor, Ryza 2 features a more dynamic exploration system. Ryza can now swim, climb, and use various exploration tools such as grappling hooks to explore more complex ancient ruins and dungeons. The world in this game feels more alive and expansive, giving players more motivation to explore every corner.

The alchemy system, the core of the Atelier series, has also been revamped. While still using the "Material Loop" concept from the first game, Ryza 2 adds features such as Essence to change an item's element, as well as an Evolution Link system that allows the creation of a new item from two different items. This makes crafting more flexible and strategic, perfect for players who enjoy experimenting with item creation.

In terms of story, Ryza 2 carries a more mature tone. Ryza has now become a more mature and independent alchemist. Her adventure this time begins when she is asked to investigate mysterious ruins in the capital of Ashra-am Baird, which then leads her to meet a mysterious creature named Fi. Ryza's relationship with her old friends and new characters feels more emotional and deep.

Graphically, the game utilizes the latest technology with sharper and more expressive visuals. Lighting effects, city atmosphere, and charming character designs provide a pleasing gaming experience, especially for fans of the anime style.

However, the game still maintains a rather slow pacing at the beginning. Some new players may feel confused by the complicated crafting system without clear guidance.

Overall, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy manages to be a more mature and touching sequel, offering a deeper exploration and crafting experience. For JRPG fans looking for a light but nuanced adventure, this game is worth a play.
