Garudaku and PB ESI will develop esports as an extracurricular activity at schools titled "Ekskul Esports Garudaku" (Garudaku Esports Extracurricular). Esports is no longer an overlooked sport. Evidently, esports has made a presence in several major sporting events such as the 2021 PON XX Papua, SEA Games, and Asian Games.

According to the data used by PB ESI, esports in Indonesia will reach 50 million players in 2024. With this rapid growth, PB ESI and Garudaku decided to develop Ekskul Esports Garudaku at more than 67,000 junior high, high/vocational schools across Indonesia, totaling 19 million students.

The objectives of developing Ekskul Esports Garudaku are:

  1. Regenerating the Indonesian esports talents from the academic level;
  2. Introducing the digital industry;
  3. Shaping the mental and behavior;
  4. Being the bridge between education and esports;
  5. Providing insights into esports as a career potential;
  6. Providing platforms/events for students across Indonesia to compete in.

In order to provide the best education relating to esports, each coach at the Ekskul Esports Garudaku must be certified and verified:

  • A License (Professional and National);
  • B License (Semi-Pro and Academy);
  • C License (Amateur and Extracurricular).

PB ESI will also continue to produce 200+ new coaches each year for the Ekskul Esports Garudaku program.

Garudaku and PB ESI are also formulating the materials and coaching technicalities for the Ekskul Esports Garudaku. This coaching will also include training, attendance, scorings, and materials. Thus, the coaching will be well-structured.

Extracurricular classes will be conducted on Zoom, and after the training, all students are required to download materials as a requirement for attendance. The students will also receive a report card assessed by the coach every month.

Each student will have to attend a 90-minute class once a week. The training materials will consist of 20% of soft skills education, 30% esports material, and 50% practice. The students will also have the opportunity to be mentored by the coach directly as well as class meetings and evaluations at the end of each month.

Garudaku and PB ESI are committed to establishing and developing esports as an extracurricular activity to nurture new talents and provide both hard and soft skills for the esports community in Indonesia at the academic level of junior, high/vocational school.
