HoYoverse announced the latest update for Genshin Impact 2.8 "Summer! Magic Night? Capriccio!", which will arrive on 13 July 2022. Golden Apple Archipelago will return to greet Travelers with a new area and story, puzzles, interesting prizes, as well as new activities. On top of that, Diluc and Fischl will don their new outfits, whereas Kaedehara Kazuha and other old friends will return with a new playable character, Shikanoin Heizou.

This update will kick off the major seasonal event "Summertime Odyssey", featuring Fischl, Xinyan, Kaedehara Kazuha, and Mona. Golden Apple Archipelago has also undergone some dramatic changes, with new spots, more extensive gameplay, more chests, and an unexpected storyline. In this daring adventure, you’ll also get a chance to recruit the 4-Star character Fischl for free.

Golden Apple Archipelago also offers a refreshing island getaway to play alone or with friends. During the "Echoing Vision" event, players can collect special conches that bring stories and messages, and redeem them to get a new outfit for Fischl. With the newest Co-Op event "Practicing Nostalgia", players can sail with friends and complete challenges.

On the mainland, Diluc, Kaedehara Kazuha, and Shikanoin Heizo (the new playable 4-Star character) will be involved in a new event and their respective storyline. Diluc will receive a new outfit with a special look, a new standby animation, and new combat effects. This outfit will be in-store with a limited-time discount. This costume also has a backstory that players can unveil in the challenge "Hidden Strife". 

Kaedehara Kazuha is also ready to reveal more details about himself in the first chapter of his Quest Story. Aside from that, his friend, Shikanoin Heizou, a young genius crime solver from the Tenryou Commission, will make his debut in version 2.8. Players are welcome to join Heizou and follow him in his daily life as a detective in his Invitation Event.

Shikanoin Heizou will be the first melee Catalyst user in the game. He can inflict Anemo DMG with his powerful attacks and kicks, and can even dish out additional Elemental Damage to targets inflicted with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro. Heizou will be available in the Kaedehara Kazuha and Klee Event Wishes in the early phase of v2.8. With Yoimiya Event Wishes coming in the next phase of the update.

Genshin Impact version 2.8 will arrive on 13 July, supporting the cross-save feature between PlayStation®, PC, and mobile. This game is rated T for Teen by ESRB on the PS5, PS4, PC, Google Play, and 12+ on iOS.
