For loyal Teamfight Tactics (TFT) players, Guinsoos Rageblade is not a foreign item. This item is known as the main weapon for units that require high attack speed. However, in patch 14.5, Riot Games gave a big surprise: Guinsoos Rageblade officially got a significant rework.
Previously, Guinsoo worked by increasing attack speed every time a unit attacked. This meant that the longer the fight, the faster the attacks. But now, the system has changed completely. Attack speed is no longer added every time an attack hits an enemy, but is added periodically every second as long as the unit is actively attacking.
- No Longer an Item Everyone Can Use
This change makes the new version of Rageblade less suitable for caster units like Senna, Miss Fortune, or Xayah who have low base attack speed. On the other hand, Rageblade is now more optimal for pure carries like Aphelios, Zeri, and Vaynewho do have high attack speed potential from the start.
- Crowd Control Becomes the New Enemy
The additional attack speed based on time makes Rageblade user units vulnerable to crowd control (CC). Once stunned, slowed, or chilled, Rageblade stacks will not be as fast as before. This can be a big problem in the mid-late game.
- Will Meta Composition Change?
Even so, the new version of Rageblade is still interesting. The TFT community is starting to experiment with new positioning and compositions to keep Rageblade effective. In fact, this could be the beginning of a new meta that shifts the dominance of the old build.
TFT Gameplay Director Stephen "Mortdog" Mortimer also provided clarification regarding the changes. He said that the current Rageblade is not as powerful as the previous version, but gives a fairer space for various units to shine.
Flashback or Fresh Start?
This Guinsoos Rageblade rework invites nostalgia for old players, but also opens up new challenges. Is this item still worth installing in every match like before? Or is it time to try other, more adaptive build options?
One thing is for sure: TFT is entering a new, more dynamic chapter.
